Funny videos to put a smile on your face

I’ve been buried in edits and rewrites. This time around, I have a good team behind me: 2 beta readers, my editor, and a proof reader. So I’m fielding chapters left and right and then receiving them back. So far, everyone loves Tangled Roots.

Yay!

I’m stressed and at the same time excited. Since I have no time to produce a proper blog post, I thought maybe these two videos that I love would put a smile on your face.

Happy Friday!

The Rose Master by Valentina Cano & Giveaway!

The Rose Manor by Valentina Cano is a good book. Trust me. Once upon a time ago I was her beta reader and was fortunate enough to have read this book in its rawest form. Even then, I loved it. Valentina is an awesome writer. You should totally check out this book.

Blurb:

The day Anne Tinning turns seventeen, birds fall from the sky. But that's hardly the most upsetting news. She's being dismissed from the home she's served at since she was a child, and shipped off to become the newly hired parlor maid for a place she's never heard of. And when she sees the run-down, isolated house, she instantly knows why:

There's something wrong with Rosewood Manor.

Staffed with only three other servants, all gripped by icy silence and inexplicable bruises, and inhabited by a young master who is as cold as the place itself, the house is shrouded in neglect and thick with fear. Her questions are met with hushed whispers, and she soon finds herself alone in the empty halls, left to tidy and clean rooms no one visits.

As the feeling of being watched grows, she begins to realize there is something else in the house with them--some creature that stalks the frozen halls and claws at her door. A creature that seems intent on harming her.

When a fire leaves Anne trapped in the manor with its Master, she finally demands to know why. But as she forces the truth about what haunts the grounds from Lord Grey, she learns secrets she isn't prepared for. The creature is very real, and she's the only one who can help him stop it.

Now, Anne must either risk her life for the young man she's grown to admire, or abandon her post while she still can.

Book Review on Something’s Amiss by Yawatta Hosby

Something’s Amiss is a women’s fiction novella with romantic elements throughout it. I really enjoyed it.

Oliver and Poe used to date, but when Poe realized he wanted to have children, she ended their relationship and moved out of state. She started a new life and eventually entered into another relationship.

When Poe’s best friend Jenna—who is also Oliver’s cousin—dies in a car accident, Poe flies back home for the funeral and to be there for Jenna’s husband Dominic, who Poe is good friends with as well. When she arrives, Oliver is there to pick her up at the airport and old feelings start to take hold of Poe. Oliver insist on her staying with his mom, who loves Poe and wants them to get back together. At first, Poe objects to his offer, but then gives in.

When Poe visits Dominic, she agrees to take care of his 4 year old daughter Raven, so he can have some time to himself to process everything and grieve. To Poe’s surprise, she bonds with her goddaughter. She never wanted kids and thought she lacked the maternal instinct, but her time with Raven shows her otherwise.

Yawatta did an excellent job on writing in the mindset of a toddler. I really enjoyed this character.

Oliver’s girlfriend Kate is a handful. Yawatta did a great job writing this character as well. Kate is something else. She’s impossible and quite annoying. I love how Oliver handles the situation. He’s still in love with Poe and determined to make things right with her again, all the while dealing with the loss of his cousin and the drama Kate tries to inflict upon his life.

Meanwhile, Poe is conflicted with her own feelings. She discovers she’s still in love with Oliver; however, she has a boyfriend at home waiting for her, not to mention she too is heartbroken over Jenna’s sudden death.

I think Something’s Amiss is a good read. I hope Yawatta does a follow up book on this story, because I want to see what happens next.

I would recommend it to anyone who loves these types of stories.

Fate Will Not Be Denied…

Julia Mills - author_picAuthor Bio

Mom of two rockin' girls, Reader of everything, Author of The Dragon Guards series and many more surprises to come!

I am a sarcastic, sometimes foul-mouthed, not afraid to drink a beer, always southern woman with 2 of the most amazing teenage daughters, a menagerie of animals and a voracious appetite for reading who recently decided to write the storied running through her brain. I read my first book, Dr Suess' Cat in The Hat by myself at 4 and was hooked.
I believe a good book along with shoes, makeup and purses will never let a girl down and that all heroes of all the books I have ever read or will ever write pale in comparison to my daddy! I am a sucker for a happy ending and love some hot sweaty sex with a healthy dose of romance.
I am still working on my story but believe it will contain all of the above with as much SPICE as I can work into it. CHEERS!
excerptLaughing, they began their trek, joking and teasing but the fun was long forgotten after several hours of endless walking. Kyra was hot, tired and seriously pissed, convinced they were just wasting time, aimlessly marching around the hillside. She was just about to suggest a break when a chill ran down her spine and her hands began to shake. Without saying a word, she dropped into the lotus position with her backpack on her lap and began pulling out her supplies, completely ignoring Lance’s bitching and Devon’s inquiries about her well being It took only a few seconds and she had the silver-framed mirror that had been her great-great-grandmother’s, a vial of blessed water from the Black Lake, and her special herbs and was working her Scrying Spell. She could hear the two Guardsmen discussing what she was doing but concentrated on the task at hand. They had been around her long enough to know she wasn't wasting time; any other explanations would have to wait.
The spell took less than five minutes and had a side effect she had only experienced one other time in her life. Not only did she get a location on Andrew but she also had a vision of what he was planning. The scene that played out in her mind was like watching a horror movie only she could feel what each character felt. Her heart raced and a cold sweat broke out all over her body but she was stuck, watching the complete annihilation of a quaint little community tucked in a once beautifully lush valley. Everything she saw was from Andrew’s point of view so although she hadn’t seen him, she knew he was there but that was the only thing that felt familiar.
She searched the faces of the dead and injured for any indication of the target of the asshole’s destruction but nothing looked familiar and there wasn’t any sound to help. All she knew was that he was somewhere off a rocky coast with turbulent waters and he was having a great time hurting anyone and everyone in his path. The silent movie of destruction went on and on. When she was sure she couldn’t take any more pain and suffering and had decided to see what the guys thought about what she had seen, her heart ceased to beat and her lungs refused to hold air, there standing in the middle of the war zone was Royce. His brow was furrowed, his brown eyes scanning the area for those that most needed his help. Her heart broke when she saw the cuts and bruises covering most of his beautiful face and his torn, bloody and soot-covered clothes.
The horror show unfolding in Andrew’s mind switched to slow motion as Royce moved from person to person helping the living from the rubble and getting them to safety. He wasn’t the only one working rescue but he was the only one that mattered to her. He shouted something and she cursed the lack of sound. In the next instant, a taller version of Royce (Was that even possible?) appeared to his right. The resemblance was uncanny. The new guy’s hair was short and curly but an auburn red instead of bright red and he was not all muscular and hunky, more long and lean which only added to how absolutely tall he was. The two worked furiously to clear away the debris, looking for someone or something specific. Even though only a vision, she could tell they were engaged in a constant stream of mind speak, another wonderful perk of being magical.
An ominous sense of danger filled her and once again her breath stilled in her lungs. She watched as both men turned in unison and began running almost faster than her eyes could track. They were obviously screaming orders to anyone that could hear from the expressions they wore and the way their mouths moved. The feeling of impending doom engulfed every cell of Kyra’s body as she felt Andrew’s enjoyment grow. The sick son if a bitch was enjoying what he was seeing and delighted that more was coming.
Horror movies had never been her thing and to have the man that was her mate in a starring role in one that would be a reality was seriously freaking her out. Sifting through everything she had ever learned that was stored in her goofy brain, she looked for a way to pull out of the vision. Finally, she found what she thought might work, but true to form, a bright light burst before her eyes, vibrations of an explosion she knew was taking place in her mind gave her the sensation of falling right before her world went black.

AUTHOR BIO:

TJ Hamilton is a former New South Wales Police Officer who worked in various areas of policing around inner city Sydney. She also holds a degree in Criminology through Griffith University. Her love of crime and mystery started at an early age after she read her first Agatha Christie novel at the age of nine. Her fascination with the darker side of life came from living with a high-class escort when she first moved to Sydney in her early twenties. TJ writes about her first love, the city of Sydney, and the wonderful places around this fabulous location. Writing came after leaving the Police Force when she was pregnant with her daughter, she sat down one day and started typing and has not stopped since. Nowadays TJ lives a quiet life in the tropics as a devoted mother and wife who loves her kitty-cats, far from the gun-slinging and criminal-catching days of the past. Book Feature: Bare Essentials (A Dirt Roads Novel) by M.L. Stephens

Blurb:
He's a cowboy with a guitar and an attitude. She's Nashville's toughest, most sought after music agent. They have one thing in common: country music.

Cutter Harrison relies on two things: beer and music—his music. At twenty-six, he's happily divorced and plans to keep it that way.

Holly Avery is on the hunt. She's determined to discover the next country music superstar and is willing to do whatever it takes to make that happen.

An unexpected meeting in Arkansas makes them question their pasts, their futures, and the bare essentials of love. Country music brought them together, but will their dirty little secrets keep them apart?

Quotes:

He was the kind of trouble she steered clear of. But damn, trouble never looked so good. He was sin and she wanted to taste.

She was Superman to his kryptonite. Good to his bad. She was a tall stick of dynamite packed inside a tiny firecracker and he wanted to light the fuse.

Eyes, like pools of hunger, pierced so intensely he was sure she could see the heart of his soul bleeding out, begging for her to heal him.

He thought he didn't need saving, but she'd casually walked into the center of his storm and rescued him.

Cowboys didn't always get the girl and no one ever rode off into the sunset. That was an illusion sold to the masses by people who'd never stepped foot beyond their concrete villages and drive-through coffee shops.

In her mind's eye, love was completely and utterly useless, but that was before she'd met the man hiding behind a guitar and a cowboy hat.

The first time he'd watched the sunrise reflected in her eyes, he knew he'd love her. And he would love her through every sunrise and every sunset until the sun ceased to exist…and then he'd love her more.

Excerpt:

He leaned back and put his guitar case on the floor. Opening it, he pulled the instrument from its resting spot, sat it on the mattress and then lifted a pen and straddled her. The warmth and weight of his body settled atop her hips as he pushed the pen behind his ear and strapped on his guitar.
Strumming the chords, he hummed until lyrics were formed and the room was filled with a song she'd never heard.
Mesmerized, she held her breath, afraid that any movement would disrupt the pure beauty of his creation.
Then he stopped, took his pen, and wrote on her body. The pen tickled her skin, leaving behind inked notes and lyrics. She wanted to cry, but didn't. He was the most extraordinary man she'd ever met and with each sketch of his pen, each new ink blot that he skillfully crafted on her flesh, she fell deeper and harder then she could've ever imagined. He was masculine yet soft, aggressive yet pliable. Hard work left his hands calloused, yet each stroke of the pen was precise and swift.
And then he sang without playing as he continued to compose on her skin. Hands down, no comparison, it was the most sensual moment of her adult life.
As he shaded notes and wrote lyrics, her arousal heightened until her nipples were hard. If she thought her well of lust had run dry, she was mistaken. It pooled between her legs and if the growing size of his erection was any indication, he was just as turned on by their artistic moment as she was.
He picked and strummed the strings of her heart as capably as he handled his instrument.
When the music died, he nodded approval. "You inspire me," he said.
"If that's what this is, I'll always aspire to inspire you," she whispered.
