Keep It Coming

6/28/2012 , , , 0 Comments

Here’s another interview I did that is now live: http://www.paranormalbookbeat.com/paranormal-headliner-rebekkah-ford-interview/

 I’m also doing a podcast tonight at 8:00 p.m.

Yikes!

I hope I don’t make dorky mistakes or comments. LOL

I’m just going to try to treat it as talking to one person and not focus on the fact that hundreds, maybe thousands of people will be listening. And of course, I’m not going to change who I am.

I am me.

Sometimes I say things wrong because my mouth tends to move faster than my mind. I tend to be blunt, but of course in a diplomatic way. I’m also very truthful. I know I can’t please everyone, but I love who I am, and I'm not changing for anyone.

So, here we go.

Keep it coming because despite how nervous I am about doing an interview on a podcast and possibly live on TV in September, I’m willing to step out of my comfort zone to promote my book.

Why you ask?

Well, because I love this book and series. I believe in it, and I believe in myself. :)

Interview & Ebook of The Week

Hey, you guys. My interview is up and, Beyond the Eyes is also featured as ebook of the week. Here’s the web address: http://www.inklingsread.com/2012/06/ebook-of-week-giveaway-beyond-eyes.html#more

I’m still waiting to hear back about doing the podcast I had told you about. We have to set up a date and time, so hopefully I’ll have that information soon. Also, I was contacted yesterday by a TV producer who wants me to send him my book. He produces a TV talk show here in North Dakota, and he told me he might be able to have me on his show sometime in September. It’s not set in stone, so we’ll see if it happens.

Enjoy the interview and have a good day!

My Happy Place

I believe everybody has a happy place, a place that gives them peace and joy. I believe everybody has more than one, like a place where you can go right before you fall asleep, being in the arms of your true love, getting lost in a book, playing with your cat or dog . . .

You get the idea.

On Saturday, I revisited one of my happy places–I wrote chapter twenty to The Devil’s Third.

Lately, I’ve been balled up in a knot over everything. So much so, I’ve been nit picking everything. That’s totally not me, and I didn’t realize it until Kevin mentioned it.

Thank God for Kevin’s honesty.

So on Friday after my wonderful critique partner asked me when I’d be sending her my next chapter to The Devil’s Third because she was dying to read it, I decided I’d spend Saturday writing it.

So I did and found my happy place. :)

I found my peace.

The tightness in my chest loosened, and my whole body sighed with relief. I decided right there, regardless of having to keep marketing, Beyond the Eyes to spread the word about it, I must make time to write my stories. I have to trust things will work out, and if I’m lucky, maybe one day I’ll be able to spend my days writing my stories and sharing them with the world.

That my friend, is one of my happy places. :)

Anyway, I did another interview and it’ll be posted this Wednesday. I’ll post the web address here Tuesday night or Wednesday morning before I go to work. I also should be getting my books this week. I wish I can show you how awesome my book looks, but my stupid camera won’t transfer the pictures onto my computer. I just spent almost an hour trying to figure out why, and I still don’t know what the deal is.

Grrrrrr!

I’ll be doing a book signing in my town soon. I haven’t set a date yet because I need to visit with the owner, but that’ll be an experience I’ll have to share with you.

Well, I must be off. I hope all of you are well and happy. :)

Proof Copy

6/21/2012 0 Comments

I received my proof copy the other day.

YAY!

I was so scared the cover wouldn’t come out right because I was told the cover contained transparencies and was flattened during their processing.

So, yeah, I was really nervous about it.

I’ve been dealing with so many roadblocks lately, and for once I wanted something to go right.

On Tuesday, when I opened my door to the porch to check the mail, there was a brown, book-sized box, leaning against the wall beside the door. I sucked in a sharp breath and reached down and snatched it. I was on my lunch break, and Kevin had just left to go back to work so I wasn’t able to share the "moment" with him. As I was walking through the house, heart pounding, I ripped the box open, ignoring Church’s demanding meow to let him in the basement. I pulled my book out, tossed the box aside on the kitchen counter and stared at it.

The angels from above were singing.

Aaaaaaaaaah!

Just kidding. :)

The cover looks awesome!

I took a picture of it to share with you guys, however, it was at night when I did which caused a horrible glare in the center of the cover. So when I get the right lighting, I'll try again and post it.

Anyway, my paperback book should be available to the public within 7-10 days. I just ordered 20 books for myself, to give to relatives, friends, and for promotional reasons.

Speaking of promotional, I’ve been doing everything I can to promote this book, and I’m starting to get discouraged. I have two more people who might review my book, however, it all depends upon their schedule and work load. I’ve contacted quite a few bloggers who review books, and so far, I haven’t heard anything from them.

I need more reviews.

If anybody who is reading this would be interested in reading and reviewing, Beyond the Eyes, please let me know. I’ll send you a free Kindle or ebook version so you can read it.

I am still getting people personally contacting me, just to let me know how much they loved this book and can’t wait to read, Dark Spirits, which is awesome. Now if only I can somehow let the world know about this book, I’d feel a lot better about everything . . .

Well, it’s about that time. I must be off to work. Have a good day you guys, and thanks for stopping by. :)

So Far, So Good

I received another five star review.

YAY!

Here’s the Amazon link to it:

http://www.amazon.com/Beyond-the-Eyes-ebook/product-reviews/B0088JF7HQ/ref=cm_cr_dp_see_all_btm?ie=UTF8&showViewpoints=1&sortBy=bySubmissionDateDescending

A couple of people have contacted me, just to tell me they started reading my book and so far they love it and it’s awesome. Then they contacted me after they were done, just to tell me they loved it and can’t wait for the next book to come out.

What an amazing feeling that is to be told something you had put your heart and soul into and love, that a complete stranger loves it too, and is now a fan of your book. I just hope this continues (people loving my book). I hope it all works out because right now, I don’t know what’s going to happen. I’m just doing the best I can to spread the word about, Beyond the Eyes. In fact, I might be doing a podcast in the near future.

Dad, I know you’re reading this, and if you don’t know what a podcast is, it’s like a radio interview, but it’s on the web. It’s a type of digital media downloaded to a web syndication or streamlined to a computer or mobile device.

If this works out, I’m sure when you listen to it, Dad, it’ll bring back memories of when you did radio interviews on your paranormal investigations. I actually had suggested the podcast would consist of that very thing (your paranormal investigations) as well as my book, of course.

So we’ll see if it’ll happen or not. If it does, I’ll let you guys know. I know a lot of people are interested in the paranormal, and I have a lot to offer through experience and my stories. And no, I’m not a nut. I’m a very logical person, like my dad. But I have some interesting stories to share with the world about being in a family that dealt with the paranormal.

Anyway, my paperback should be available to buy very soon. I can’t wait to hold it in my hands. I’m totally looking forward to it. Of course, I’ll letcha know when it happens.

Well, that’s it for now. I’ve been working very hard on marketing this book and now need to make time to start rereading and revising my second book in this series (Dark Spirits). My editor is waiting for me to send it to him, so I need to get busy on it–like now. :)

An Awesome Book Review

6/13/2012 0 Comments

Hey you guys,

I've been working on the final stages before my paperback book gets published. Of course, I'm going to get a proof copy first, and then once I approve it, it's good to go. I can't wait to hold my book in my hands. :)

Anyway, check out this awesome review on my book: http://yawattahosby.wordpress.com/
When Kevin read it, he got choked up. Lol. He's so cute. :)

This Is My World Lately

Normally, I wouldn’t post this until tomorrow, however, lately nothing has been normal in my life.

Well, if you don’t count the mundane things that most of us have to do on a daily basis: go to work, do dishes, laundry, clean house, grocery shopping, etc.

So this was my world last Wednesday night . . .

I’m on the computer working on marketing my book. It’s 8:30 p.m. Kevin enters the computer room and stands beside me.

Kevin: "You need to eat something."

I’m typing on the computer and don’t even look at him.

Me: "I’ll eat in a few minutes."

Out the corner of my eye, I see him frowning at me.

Kevin: "It’s nice outside. We should go for a walk."

I still don’t look at him because I’m trying to figure stuff out on the website I’m looking at.

Me: "I’d love to take a walk, but I have too much to do, and I’m tired. I haven’t slept well in two days and seriously thinking about buying some brandy to help me sleep."

Side note: I’m not much of a drinker, although I usually have a mixed drink once a week, when we go out. I also don’t mind drinking brandy from time to time, and had discovered that it does help you sleep when desperate times calls for it.

Kevin leaves the room, and I continue working on marketing my book. A half hour later, he steps back in the room and lingers by the door.

Kevin: "Are you going to eat?"

I wave a hand in the air, still staring at the computer.

Me: "I’ll grab a granola bar in a minute."

He goes into the other room and about twenty minutes later, I emerge out of the computer room, grab a granola bar, and get back at it.

That’s how it’s been at my house lately. I’m doing everything in my power to spread the word about this book. I have two people who are reading it right now and will do a book review on it. I also did another interview last night, however, that interview won’t be up until August. I’ve contacted more than a handful of people, asking if they’d do a book review on my book. I’m hoping they’ll contact me back, but the thing I’m learning is, not everyone will respond and some won’t follow through. All I can do is the best I can and keep plugging away at it. I did join quite a few websites to help spread the word. Here they are . . .

Goodreads, Pinterest, Shelfari, The Indie View, BookDaily, World Literary Café, Manic Readers, and Author Marketing Club.

So yeah, I’ve been super busy with marketing this book. But that’s okay. I have a love affair with the, Beyond the Eyes series, and I believe strongly in it. If I didn’t, I would have abandoned it a long time ago.

Oh. I don’t have a Facebook author page up. I’m still wondering if I should do it or not. Also, my paperback is taking longer than expected because my team and I want to make sure it’s perfect.

Now, I must get back to marketing this book before this day escapes me.

A Song That Reminds Me of A Scene

6/08/2012 0 Comments

In one of the interviews I had done, I was asked about what type of music/songs would go with Beyond the Eyes. Metallica–Enter Sand Man, was one of them. However, this song by Lifehouse-Whatever It Takes, is another one because whenever I hear this song, I always think of the scene when Nathan bares his feelings to Paige, and he actually tells her he’ll do whatever it takes to keep them together.

Here’s the song/video. Remember Paige is seventeen so these characters in this video don’t resemble Paige or Nathan, but the song fits the scene I just mentioned.

My Next Interview

Hey, you guys. My next interview is up. Here's the web address: http://sbibb.wordpress.com/2012/06/06/interview-with-rebekkah-ford-author-of-beyond-the-eyes/
I just woke up, and I'm still bleary eyed and sleepy, so please excuse me. I must get some coffee.

Now It Begins

6/06/2012 0 Comments

I thought I’d take a quick breather from working on marketing my book to tell you guys what a trip this is. I did three interviews and now I’m waiting to hear back on when they'll be posted. I’m also working on getting more book reviews. I think the hardest part for me is the waiting part.

My paperback is still in the formatting process. There were more formatting kinks that needed to be ironed out, so hopefully I’ll have it back within a couple days. Frankly, I can’t wait to get my ARC/proof copy. I’m so looking forward to holding my book in my hands. :)

So far this week, I posted my book trailer on Youtube, joined Goodreads, uploaded to Smashwords, and created an author profile on Amazon. Not to mention, working on marketing my book.

I don’t mind any of this really because it’s teaching me a lot about the business aspect of it, but the thing that sucks is, I don’t have time to write or go over my second book in this series.

I can’t wait to get back to it.

My characters keep imploring me to write about them, and I have to ignore their chatter.

Yeah, I know. That sounds nutty, but if you’re a writer, you totally know what I’m talking about.

Anyway, I thought I’d pop on really quick to tell you that now it begins. I just pushed the rock over the hill, and I’m wondering what’s going to happen next. I’m on the ledge looking down, watching what this rock I just pushed is going to do while doing the best I can to make it gain speed and alert people to it.

Speaking of alerting, I’ll letcha know when my interviews and book reviews are posted. Right now, though, I need to get ready for bed because I have a day job I have to go to in the morning.

Have a g'nite, and I'll talk to ya soon. :)

There's also a giveaway. The winner will get a free ebook of, Beyond the Eyes.

Oh, I did a couple interviews, so I might be back before Friday to give you the web address so you can check it out.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm in some serious need of some coffee. :)

The Sun Is Still Shining

6/03/2012 , , , 0 Comments

It’s Sunday night, 8:28 to be exact and the sun is still shining. I’ve lived here in North Dakota for 6 years now, and I’m still not used to it being light outside when it should be dark. In my book, that’s just so wrong.

Yeah, yeah. I know. Most people love that it doesn’t get dark until like 10:30 at night.

Not me.

I’m the type of person who likes it dark at 6 o’clock and rather be cold than hot. In fact, I really don’t care for summer. Unless, it’s a mild summer. Otherwise, forget it. I don’t like the heat, and I don’t like the bugs.

Last summer was horrible here. I swear, one day we had like a hundred flies in our house and the mosquitos were bad too. Not to mention that stupid, freaky-ass tornado I told you guys about.

I’m not bitching really. I’m just saying.

Anyway, I do have some news regarding my book, but I’m not going to post it until I know it’s all good. So, there will probably be another post before Friday.

Until then, take care and I’ll be back soon. :)

Fingers Crossed

6/01/2012 , , , 0 Comments

I’ve been feverishly working on reviewing my ebook and checking for errors this week. Now, I’m doing the same with my paperback book. It looks like though, I’ll be able to upload my book to Kindle & ebook in less than a week.

Yay.

So if everything goes well, my book may be available on Kindle & ebooks by this time next week.

*fingers and piggies crossed*

And then, hopefully my paperback book will be available within a couple weeks. I am going to get an ARC (advanced readers copy) before I ok it to publication, so that may take a week. But I rather it takes a little bit longer than to be mortified by something I wouldn’t be able to change afterwards. If that makes sense.

I’m going to be doing some blog interviews in the near future. I’m working on setting them up right now and will post each blog site I hopscotch to in this blog. There will also be reviews on my book and giveaways. I’ll keep you up-to-date on everything. I imagine though, marketing my book will be an ongoing process for a while.

Anyway, I still have a ton of things to do, but thank God it’s Friday. :)

Happy Friday!
