Happy Memorial Day!

I want to thank all the vets out there—dead or alive—who have served our country. I appreciate your sacrifice. If it weren’t for you, we wouldn’t have the freedoms we have today.

Dream Series by J.J. Dibenedetto

5/23/2014 , , , , 0 Comments

Here's a cool series for you to check out. Please excuse the different colors in this post. I don't know why it's doing that. I think this program is being moody or something.

Enjoy!

About the Dream Series

What if you could see everyone else’s dreams?  That’s the question Sara has to wrestle with in the Dream Series.  We first meet her as a shy, bookish college student who doesn’t think there’s anything extraordinary about herself.  And then the dreams start…
Over the course of the series, Sara learns to live with these supernatural dreams and all the trouble they plunge her into.  At the same time, she grows from a student to a practicing doctor; and from a single girl to a wife and mother.  But every time she thinks she’s got everything figured out, life – and her extraordinary dreams – teach her that she’s always got more to learn…

What would you do if you could see other people’s dreams?  If you could watch their hidden fantasies and uncover their deepest, darkest secrets…without them ever knowing?
Sara Barnes is about to find out.  She thought that all she had to worry about was final exams, Christmas shopping and deciding whether she likes the cute freshman in the next dorm who’s got a crush on her.
But when she starts seeing dreams that aren’t hers, she learns more than she ever wanted to know about her friends, her classmates…and a strange, terrifying man whose dreams could get Sara killed.
“Dream Student” is the thrilling first installment of the Dreams series.

***
Dream Doctor (Book 2)

“I didn’t expect to be woken up by someone I don’t know dreaming about killing somebody.  I thought I was done with that once and for all…”
But Sara’s not done with it.  As if adjusting to life as a newlywed and starting medical school weren’t difficult enough, she’s started seeing the dreams of everyone around her, again.  Before everything is said and done, those dreams might destroy Sara’s hopes of becoming a doctor, wreck her marriage and even end her life…
“Dream Doctor” is the thrilling second novel in the Dreams series.

***
Dream Child (Book 3)

"I would give anything to take this away from her.  I would gladly go back to having the nightmares myself – the very worst ones, the ones that had me waking up screaming in a pool of my own vomit – rather than see Lizzie go through this..."
As a resident at Children's Hospital, Sara can handle ninety hour workweeks, fighting to save her young patients from deadly childhood diseases.  But she's about to be faced with a challenge that all her training and experience haven't prepared her for: her four-year-old daughter has inherited her ability to see other people's dreams...
"Dream Child" is the suspenseful third novel in the "Dreams" series.

***
Dream Family (Book 4)

"Why is this so hard for me?  Why am I having so much trouble?  Why do I feel so helpless, so hopeless?  What the hell is wrong with me?"
After tangling with murders and mobsters, not to mention medical school and three years of residency, Sara thought she could handle anything.  And then the police show up without warning at her new office and arrest her for a crime she can't possibly have committed.  Sara's confidence, and her grip on reality, is shattered during one terrifying night in jail.
Now, the very dreams that have endangered her life and driven her to the edge of madness may be the only thing that can help Sara find herself again...
"Dream Family" is the powerful fourth novel in the "Dreams" series.

***
Waking Dream (Book 5)

“Oh, God!   We can hurt each other.  Whatever we do to each other in the dream, we’ll do it to ourselves for real…”

When her own dreams are visited by a mysterious woman in a red dress, Sara realizes she has something she never expected: a counterpart, someone outside her family who shares her talent to see other people’s dreams.

When the woman in red keeps showing up in other dreams as well, leaving ruined lives in her wake, Sara knows she has something she never imagined: a nemesis.

Now, Sara must track the woman in red down in the waking world, before she’s forced to fight for her life in her dreams…

“Waking Dream” is the exciting fifth novel in the “Dreams” series.

***
Dream Reunion (Book 6)

"I wish someone - my mother, my husband, anybody - would really let me have it, instead of telling me everything's not my fault when it obviously is..."

Sara's seen the cost of interfering in other people's dreams firsthand; it's measured in ruined lives and cemetery plots.

When her supernatural dreams start up again, Sara is faced with problem after problem. And the only solution she can see is the one she's sworn never to attempt - changing the minds of the dreamers from the inside-out.

Sara thought that fighting against serial killers, mobsters and crooked politicians was difficult, but she's about to come up against the most difficult foe she's ever faced: her own conscience.

Dream Reunion is the emotional sixth book in the Dream Series.

***
A Box of Dreams (Books 1-5 collected into one Kindle Box Set)

What if you could see everyone else’s dreams?

Sara Barnes has just discovered that she can.  And this gift – or curse – will lead her on an extraordinary journey.

Follow Sara as her newfound ability leads her into adventures she never imagined.  She will hunt down a serial killer, investigate a plot to murder one of her teachers, unravel a conspiracy between a mobster and a corrupt politician and face off against her nemesis: a woman who shares her talent, but uses it to destroy lives rather than save them.  And Sara will have to manage all that while finishing college, becoming a doctor and falling in love, too.

Here are the first five books of the Dream Series, along with bonus material created especially for this collection.  Included in this set are DREAM STUDENT, DREAM DOCTOR, DREAM CHILD, DREAM FAMILY and WAKING DREAM.  In addition, you’ll find the short story BETTY & HOWARD’S EXCELLENT ADVENTURE starring Sara’s parents.  But most of all, when you open this box of dreams, you’ll find romance, suspense, humor and plenty of heart…

Legally Blind and Living with Cerebral Palsy, Author Jeremy Breitenbach Is An Inspiration That Shouldn’t Be Ignored.

I met Jeremy in a group I’m part of on Facebook. One day he asked me if I would be interested in interviewing him about his upcoming release called, The Gateway. Of course I said yes. At the time I didn’t realize he’s legally blind and has cerebral palsy. When I discovered those things about him, it blew me away.

Wow!

Double Wow.

I can’t even imagine having those disabilities and trying to write a book.

We all have our challenges in life and while we’re facing them, we tend to ask “Why me?”

We feel alone.

Lost.

At times we even resort to thinking, what’s the point?

When there’s a road block in our way, hampering us to reach our goals, we either . . .

A.) Make up excuses on why we can’t pursue our dreams.

B.) Forget about them and move on to something less appealing but easier to obtain.

C.) Blame others or the universe for why we can’t have what we want.

D.)Say “Bite me road block! I’m going to find a way to knock you aside or hurdle over you. I don’t care how long it takes. I will defeat you and (in Jeremy’s case) write a book!”

I had asked Jeremy how he writes his books since he’s legally blind, and he told me with a device called a Braillenote. He writes his books as Braille documents, then translate them into Microsoft Word documents using the Braillenote.

Amazing.

His tenaciousness in working around his disabilities so he can write The Gateway is awe-inspiring. He has a strength that I admire, and I wish him the best of luck on his journey as a published author.

What’s The Gateway about?

The Gateway introduces readers to Chicago, IL in the year 2059, and Dr. Richard Caulman, a physicist who aims to revolutionize transportation. Instead his creation leads to an alien invasion which puts the entire world in danger.

Now let’s talk to Jeremy, shall we?

Hi, Jeremy. I’m glad you’re here. Please tell everyone about yourself.

I’m legally blind and have cerebral palsy. I live in Cincinnati, OH where I was born and raised. I was born premature and wasn’t expected to survive.

When did you start writing stories?

I started writing at age fifteen.

When did you know you wanted to be a writer?

When I was fifteen.

What type of stories do you like to write and why?

I like to write adult and children’s books, because . . . well, to be honest I haven’t thought of why. I just enjoy writing.

Who is your favorite author?

Stephen King because his books are engrossing. He’s also my inspiration.

I love Stephen King’s books, too. He seems like a cool person, and his sense of humor is great. J

Where do you get your ideas?

Honestly, I don’t know. They just come to me.

Where can people connect with you?

My official Facebook is:

Thank you Jeremy for stopping by and giving us a dose of humility by showing through your actions that with perseverance, strength, hard work and believing in yourself, goals can be obtained. I wish you the best of luck on your publishing journey.

What Type Of Writer Are You?

5/16/2014 , , , 3 Comments

I recently asked this question in one of my Google Plus groups and received a surprising amount of responses, which was cool. I told them I was a careful writer and sometimes I get annoyed with myself because it seems to take me forever to write a book.

Wait a minute.

What do I mean by “careful” writer?

Basically, in a nutshell, I want the research I have to do to be accurate and my
story to be perfect. So I believe it takes me longer to write because of those things. Not to mention as of right now, I work a full-time job during the week which sucks up a lot of my time. But to be honest, I think quality is more important in my books than quantity. I want my readers to get a bigger bang for their buck when they buy my novels. I want them to be entertained and love my stories. So if it takes me longer to write them, in the long run it’s worth it, right?

Btw, in case you’re wondering, I do make good use with my free time. I get up
in the morning an hour early before I have to, just to write, and then I write some more in the evening times. During the weekend, I write as much as I can.

The other day I was asked where I was going on vacation. I told this person nowhere. I have a book I’m aiming to release sometime this summer and another one to finish. I’m too busy to take a week off and go where ever. Besides, if I went anywhere, I’d be thinking about my books, my fans and my street team.

Anyway, I know every writer is different. Some can churn out a book every month or so, while it takes others a year or more to write a novel.  It usually takes me three months, but with Tangled Roots it has taken me longer than I anticipated. It was going to be a novella, but my characters surprised me and demanded more. So I complied, and I’m excited about it. I’ll do a post about Tangled Roots in the near future and a cover reveal.

But this post is not about plugging my next book. I want to know what type of writer you are.

Do you have to have complete silence to write?

I can’t write when music is playing. I also prefer not to hear the TV as well, but sometimes it’s unavoidable because the living room is near our computer room. I suppose I could wear earplugs.

I was once asked in an interview if I have a certain candy I need while I write. At the time I didn't, and I still don’t really. However, I’m starting to like having red licorice on hand.

What about you?

Do you need to have a certain candy or food while you create your stories?

Now that I'm thinking about red licorice, I need to get some this weekend. I know I don't have anymore.

I must not forget.

*makes a mental note to get some and a pair of earplugs*

Happy Friday!

Book Review: Unexpected Consequences: Intoxicating Passion #5 by Felicia Tatum

This is a wonderful novelette series about two broken souls who find each other. They are forced to face and overcome their own personal demons before they can build a healthy relationship with one another.

I liked how Felicia spotlighted the issue of being in an abusive relationship. Nobody should ever have to put up with physical or mental abuse.

Period.

Korah’s (the main character in this series) prior relationship was like that. It left her vulnerable and insecure.

Felicia did a fine job in her character’s growth. It wasn’t like Korah woke up one morning and then BAM! She’s all good and everything is wonderful. LALALA.

Nope.

Korah had to work on becoming a strong and capable person. It didn’t happen overnight. I really appreciate that about this series. The same goes for Dane as well. He has major issues with women. I’ve seen this same problem in guys btw.
Hell, I still run across a few once in a while.

Wait a minute.

Now that I think about it . . . I work with one!

Anyway, one word can describe Dane’s problem with the opposite sex.

Trust.

He has trust issues because of what happened to him in the past. He’s a male slut, refusing to allow a female into his heart—until Korah rocks his world. Dane now needs to decide whether to ignore his growing feelings and unrelenting attraction towards Korah, or tear down the bricks around his heart.

Btw, this series has two points of view—Korah’s and Dane’s—and I love that it does. I think Felicia did a perfect job writing in a male’s POV, and I enjoyed seeing the world through Dane’s perspective.

Good job Felicia! J

I recommend this series to readers who love romance books.

Excerpt

Excerpt #1
My nipples harden almost painfully from the brush of his hands and the fabric against my human skin. Without realizing it, I let out a moan.
He stops pulling down the fabric and looks at me questionably.
I do not know his question. But I know my answer will be yes.
He tilts his head slightly and moves closer to my face.
I feel his breath on my lips. It smells like that furred fruit my family likes so much. The kiwi. I want to taste him so very badly. I lick my lips and clumsily close the space between us. I want to swallow him, consume him until we are a permanent part of each other.
Dezso lets out a groan and gives me what I want. All the while, he is caressing my back with the most wonderful of touches.
I move my hands down his back and grip his rump, pulling him as close as I possibly can against my body. Oh my, what a delight! So firm, it is like a perfect peach ready for picking. Yet, squeezable like something that can be molded into a shape. I stay, with my hands kneading his flesh, as his hands slow move lower to my rear.
I feel wetness between my legs and let out a gasp of pleasure, feeling an undeniable need to move that area closer to him. There is a hardness between his legs and I know EXACTLY what it is. I want to touch it, taste it, and see if it is just like in my dreams. I slowly pull away from his lips and ease my way to kneeling position.
He looks at me, panting. Desire consumes his eyes.
I wonder if mine are the same, I think to myself, as I pull at the material that covers what I crave.
He grabs my hands and gently pulls me to my feet. “Not here, my Lady…”

Excerpt #2

It has been three days since the attack by Than and Cassiel. Iria and I have been training hard. Harder than ever before. There is drastic improvement showing in her skill. She is not even close to being done with training. That will take months, maybe even years to learn all that is possible. But she is progressing quite fast!
My Uncle has been by our sides more than ever, offering his help, knowledge, and guidance to both Iria and myself. He now knows of Iria’s secret and has sworn to take the secret to his grave and beyond. He says he knew there was something different…special about her but did not want to pry. He said he figured if it was meant for him to know, it will be revealed to him.

Iria and I, are both truly grateful to have him at our side and for the assistance, he is giving to us.

“Iria do not take it easy on the old man. Take him down!
She chuckles and ducks a punch from my Uncle Dillon with ease. Rapidly gaining her feet and swiping his legs from below him. “Eat dirt evil doer!” She jumps up in triumph and laughs at my Uncle’s confounded expression.

New Edition. Nature's Unbalance: The Chosen by Andrea Buginsky Book 2

Nature’s Unbalance: The Chosen, book 2

New Edition!

NaturesUnbalanceFinal_Tweaked_1024Hx683W (2)
Finally re-releasing with a beautiful new cover!

Synopsis:

During a time of celebration for The Chosen, a mysterious force appears on Phantasma, threatening to destroy Nature and all of her creatures. Will The Chosen find and defeat this force and save Nature before it’s too late?

Excerpt:

Suddenly, as if someone had cast a freeze spell, everything stopped. The musicians ceased playing. No one moved. No one spoke. As everyone looked around, they saw the shamans and druids gather together nervously and look up at the sky. Everyone else focused their eyes upwards to see what had captured their attention; chatter and screams could be heard as the sky suddenly darkened. Day became night in an instant. Now in a near panic, everyone shouted out assumptions.

“It’s Gastle! He’s back!”

“That’s impossible! This must be a new monster.”

“Perhaps it’s Gastle’s descendants seeking revenge for his death.”

“Or an old enemy trying to replace him on the throne.”

“Everyone, please, stay calm,” Striker spoke up. As the head of The Chosen, he normally took command, and it was accepted by those around him. “Let’s try to get some answers before we make assumptions.” He turned to the druids and shamans, who talked animatedly with each other while they pointed to the dark sky. “Red, any idea what this is?”

“It’s definitely not Gastle, or any other creature in Phantasma. There’s something off with the elements. Whatever caused this is a natural entity and comes directly from Nature herself. There is a definite shift, and it’s unbalanced. We can all sense it.”

“Any idea what it could be?”

“No, but the strongest feelings we received are coming from the North, in the Polard region. We need to go there and see the situation for ourselves.”

Halli glanced at Queen Laurali who stood nearby and listened to the conversation between Striker and Red. The queen came toward the group, and Halli knew what she would say.

“I know this is a day of great celebration,” the Queen said, “but under the circumstances, I think it would be best if The Chosen headed out at once to seek some answers.” She turned toward the bride and groom. “Halli and Silvor, I will send a replacement healer and mage, of course, so you two can start your honeymoon. Until we know more, there’s no reason for you to cancel your plans.” But Halli and Silvor wouldn’t hear of it.

“We go with our family,” Silvor said. Halli nodded in agreement. “We can celebrate our honeymoon once we know what’s happened.”

Queen Laurali bowed her respect to them. “Very well,” she said. “The Chosen, in its entirety, will head out right away toward Polard to see what you can find out. You may change in my tower while your horses are prepared.”

Forget everything you know about grim reapers.

Ophelia is given the rare chance to become a grim reaper. She must become Leila Bele, cut ties with her old life, and follow the rules of the reapers. Her greatest adventure begins with death.

Excerpt

“Forget everything you know about grim reapers, Ophelia. Humans have it wrong. It’s easier to believe in angels and demons, than to see what’s right in front of you. Who wants to believe the undead walk among us with beating hearts? It would frighten humans. It would probably send many to their graves faster,” Edon said.
