Here’s the cover to The Devil’s Third! I would have the blurb with it, however, I’m waiting for my wonderful editor to send it back to me. I’ll post it here as soon as I can.

Anyway, what to do think?

The Exciting Continuation of The Beyond the Eyes Trilogy.

Blog Awards

7/26/2013 , , , 6 Comments

About a month ago, I was nominated for two different blog awards, and I’m now finally able to post about them.

The first one (Very Inspiring Award) I was nominated by the wonderful Alana Munro.

Thank you so much!

I’m truly honored to be receiving this and that you thought of me.

Alana is an author of the book called, Women Behaving Badly. Here’s what it’s about:

Have you ever been hurt by a woman? Are you fed up with the constant bitching, gossiping and manipulation between the females in your life? Do you want happier and healthier relationships with females? Do you wish to weed out the toxic women and seek out only positive women?

If you have ever wondered why some women are complicated creatures, this book will offer you straight talking answers. This book will highlight all the strange, controlling and spiteful behaviours that some females specialise in. This book attempts to understand what actually drives women to be cruel or bitchy to each other. It attempts to make sense of the huge expectations women place on each other. How can we avoid toxic women? What bad behaviours should we be looking out for? This book explores every cruel behaviour possible and attempts to understand what is really going on between the females in our life.

http://www.amazon.com/Women-Behaving-Badly-ebook/dp/B00BM5LEUW/

Alana nominated me because she said I offered something unique and was an inspiration to the world.

How sweet, huh?

But let me tell ya . . . Alana has a lot to offer as well. She’s always doing author interviews and willing to help the writing community out. She’s amazing, and I’m thankful we met. You should check out her awesome website btw. Here it is: http://alanamunroauthor.com/

The other blog award I received (Super Sweet Blogging Award) was from another amazing and wonderful person . . . Vashti
Quirzo-Vega. If you’ve read the previous blog I’ve done, you’ll remember she’s the author of The Basement. She’s also a blogger. Here’s her blog address:

I want to thank Vashti for this awesome award. I’m so glad I met her. She’s great and has become a friend of mine in the literary world.

Now I’m supposed to answer 5 super sweet questions as part of this award. Here they are:

1.) Cakes or Cookies?

Cookies. Monster cookies are my favorite. They rock!

2.) Favorite Sweet Treat?

I have so many. I don’t know. I love fried bread with butter and cinnamon sugar on it. I also love peanut butter and chocolate ice cream from Baskin Robbins. Oh, and chocolate soda with mint chocolate chip ice cream in it. And . . . I can go on and on. :)

3.) Sweet Nick Name?

My mom used to call me pumpkin.

4.) What Is The Sweetest Thing Anybody Has Ever Done For You?

There are so many. I can’t just name one.

5.) What Is Your Sweetest Memory?

When my niece Ariel was 16 months old, we were sitting on the couch watching a black and white cartoon. There were these babies in a nursery. One baby started crying and then another. Ariel gave me a worried look and then looked back at the TV. A third baby cried. Ariel looked at me again, concern marring her face. I smiled and told her it was okay. Her gaze swept back to the cartoon and the whole nursery erupted in wails. Ariel’s bottom lip quivered, and she leaned over and hugged me. It was so damn cute. I’ll never forget it.

Now I’m supposed to announce nominees–13 of them. Frankly, even though I know a lot of bloggers, I’m not sure who hasn’t received this award or not. I don’t have time at the moment to weed them out. There are a lot of wonderful bloggers out there who deserves it. When I get some more time, I’ll announce them.

Anyway, it’s Friday!

Yay!

It was my wedding anniversary yesterday.

18 years!

Can you believe it?

Time flies.

Seriously.

It’s been the best 18 years of my life. I’m truly blessed to have Kevin. We’re going out of town tonight for a special dinner and eat some yummy food!

Woot! Woot!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Chatting With Tree

Just recently the wonderful Vashti Quiroz-Vega had me, my books, and Tree, on her blog. She’s an author as well and wrote a book called The Basement. You should check it out btw. It sounds like a good read.
http://www.tatepublishing.com/bookstore/book.php?w=9781625105554

Anyway, I haven’t spoken to Tree for a while now and thought I’d contact him to see how he was doing. I shared my conversation with him on Vashti’s blog and wanted to share it with you guys here as well. I know out of all my characters in my Beyond the Eyes trilogy, Tree ranks high on the favorite list for a lot of my readers. The following is a bit of information about him, just incase you haven’t read my books yet.

Tree is one of Paige’s (main character) best friends in the, Beyond the Eyes trilogy. He’s eighteen-years-old, six-foot five, though appears taller because he’s built like a bouncer, he has brown eyes and a bitchen black Mohawk. He’s the type of guy who would give you the shirt off his back. He’s also loyal and protective over his friends. He’s into comic book heros, guitars, punk rock, and cars. He’s a grease monkey-works for his dad who is the top mechanic in Astoria, Oregon, fixing vehicles. And he’s of German descent.

I decided to hook up with him again via webcam. We still had each other in our Skype account, so it was rather easy to do. In respect to the people who haven’t read this trilogy yet, and because The Devil’s Third won’t be out until later this year, I’ll be mindful in what to ask Tree.

Okay, I just ringed him up. Let’s get started.

Me: "Hi, Tree. How are you?"

Tree: "Hey, Rebekkah. Despite the major adjustments in my life, I’m doing well. Thank you." He shifts the black knit cap on his head and smiles. "How are you?"

Me: "Oh, I’m crazy busy, but that seems to be the norm lately."

Tree: (Nods.) "Tell me about it."

Me: "Did you shave your Mohawk off?"

Tree: (His hand flutters to his knit cap again. He touches it, then drops his hand in his lap. A frown mars his face.) "No, but your readers will find out what happened when they read The Devil’s Third."

Me: "You also found out some shocking info. about yourself. One could even go as far as to say, mind-blowing."

Tree: (Laughs.) "That’s putting it mildly."

Me: "So do you and Carrie plan on going to school in Portland, Oregon this fall?"

Tree: "I’m not sure. I’ll have to talk to her about it. I know my folks would be disappointed if I didn’t go, and the same with Carrie’s as well."

Me: "How are Paige and Nathan doing?"

Tree: (Smiles.) "They’re doing awesome. I think their relationship will be smooth sailing from here on out. So many things and people kept coming between them, but I think that’s over now."

Me: "Good to hear. What about Brayden?"

Tree: "I haven’t seen Brayden in a while. I’m sure I’ll see him again, because he’ll never give up on the possibility of having a relationship with Paige. He believes they were meant to be together. Period."

Me: "What do you think about it?"

Tree: (Shrugs.) "I really don’t know what to think. The way I see it is as long as Paige is happy and the guy treats her well, I’m good with it, otherwise, I’d have to kick his ass." He laughs.

Me: (I laugh along with him.) "You’re a good friend."

Tree: "Thanks. Paige is like a sister to me. She’s been alone most of her life. Her father died when she was four and as she got older, her mom stayed away from her. Carrie and I always kept an eye on Paige, though, she wasn’t quite aware of it. We also knew she had a lot of pent up emotions she needed to deal with. Thankfully, Nathan helped her confront and deal with all the hurt and sadness she had harbored inside herself for so long."

Me: (Grins.) "Yay! Nathan. He’s a good guy. I like him a lot. The other day I had a fan tell me Nathan scares him." I laugh.

Tree: (He raises his eyebrows and grins, laughter dancing in his eyes.) "Are you serious?"

Me: "Yes, I am. The person who told me that, mentioned what Nathan had done to Aosoth in Dark Spirits." I cup my hands around my mouth and stage whisper, "The toilet scene."

Tree: (He chuckles.) "I thought what Nathan did to that bitch was classic. She deserved much more than that for destroying Paige’s family and being flat out evil. Sometimes I think she’s worse than Bael."

Me: "Well, Bael is evil too, but it’s a subtle, darker kind, which to me is much worse."

Tree: "Good point. Cloaked evil is far worse."

Me: "Well, Tree, I suppose I should end this chat. I enjoyed visiting with you. Thank you for taking the time to talk to me."

Tree: "No problem. The feeling is mutual. Take care."

Me: "You too. Tell the gang I said hi."

Tree: (Smiles) "Will do."

Mira Plus Three Blog Tour: Genre–Erotica

7/15/2013 , , 0 Comments

Yup, you read the title of this blog post right . . . it’s erotica. As you know, I love helping other authors out, thus doing this post about E. Alexander’s books.

It’s funny. Not ha, ha, funny. But funny, because a guy friend of mine keeps urging me to write erotica, and then I meet Alex. So what is the Universe saying? Am I supposed to write a hot, sexy book? I don’t know. Maybe some day, but not right now. I need to stick to the paranormal genre for a while. Don’t ya think?

Anyway, step into the den of iniquity if you dare *insert devious laugh* and check out E Alexander’s books. They just might heat up your skin and make you want to do naughty things. :)

Blurb:

Mira and her three best guy friends get together for their ritual Thursday night movie fest. Having had crushes on each of them at one time or another while growing up, it’s not really a surprise when the drinks start flowing and clothes start disappearing. What started out as just another night, ends up becoming a night of ecstasy and fulfilling one of her deepest, darkest fantasies. When the sun comes up, will they remain friends, or will their years of friendship come to an abrupt halt?

Author Bio:

Hi

My favorite past times are reading, watching anime, listening to songs really loud, wrestling with my boys, and daydreaming, which I strongly advocate for everyone. I always liked telling stories while growing up, so when I decided to sit down and write a short story, I found I really liked to write. I hope you enjoy reading my work as much as I enjoyed making it. If you did, please leave me some feedback at the site where you found it!

The Devil’s Third Update & Sneak Peek Clips.

Hello Peeps! I just wanted to give you an update on The Devil’s Third (the 3rd book in my YA paranormal trilogy). I finished the rough draft.

Yay!

It’ll go to my wonderful editor Chase, either this Sunday or Monday, and then the edits and rewrites begin.

Eeeep!

In the meantime, I’m writing a Beyond the Eyes novella called Doorways. I’ll tell ya more about it later.

Anyway, here are a few clips straight out of The Devil’s Third. Keep in mind, though, this material is raw right now. Remember, it hasn’t been to the editor yet, but I wanted to give you a glimpse into the story. You'll have to click on the picture to read it.

Oh! Btw, the last one I’m posting is a hot scene, so much so, I might have to change this book from young adult to new adult.

You have been forewarned. :)

HAPPY FRIDAY!

                                              #

I decided to interview Evan Levesque from Love Exactly. It’s kinda cute because he calls me Bekka instead of Rebekkah. The last time somebody called me that was when my older sister was four and couldn’t say Rebekkah, so she said "Bekka" instead.

Anyway, Evan was on the road traveling to his next big gig when I rang him up to do this interview.

Bekka: Hi, Evan. Thank you for joining me on my blog! Now, is Evan your real name. I know some artists sometimes change them...

Evan: Thanks Bekka for having me--yeah, that’s my real name.

Bekka: Did you always want to be a musician?

Evan: Pretty much--I’ve been playing since I could lift the mini-guitar my dad got me as a toddler.

Bekka: That’s so cute! So, do you only play guitar and sing?

Evan: I’m known for playing guitar and my voice, naturally, but I also play bass, drums and piano. I’m just not as good at it as the band members who always do it.

Bekka: Were you formally taught?

Evan: Actually, no. To be honest with you I can even read sheet music.

Bekka: What was the first thing you thought when you met Emma?

Evan: (Laughs) Err...well, she kind of rammed into me, so my first thought was ‘what the hell?’ My second thought was ‘ah, hell, she’s gorgeous.’

Bekka: (Smiles) When did you know you had a connection with her?

Evan: When her phone went off and it was me singing. She turned so many shades of red, but she remained so composed. I couldn’t believe she knew who I was and was acting so normal. I was sold then--I’ve never met anyone who treated me like a normal human being since I’ve been famous.

(I can hear the smile in his voice)

Bekka: Do you agree with the bad boy impression that people have of you?

Evan: From talking to me do you think I am?

Bekka: (Shakes head) No.

Evan: I like tattoos, sue me. I never really thought of the impression they’d give people when I got them; I just liked them. I was trying to be me.

Bekka: Speaking of you, how would you describe yourself?

Evan: I’m a thirty something year-old man pursuing his dream of music and trying to fit into a world that I don’t.

Bekka: What do you mean by that?

Evan: I love music. I don’t love fame.

Bekka: (Nods head) Sounds like you’re ready to call it quits?

Evan: Not at all--I love playing for an adoring crowd, but you can get that in a small town just as well. What I mean is, no offense, the media and interviews get tiring after a while--especially when everyone wants to know all the details of your life from when you brush your teeth to how often you have sex.

Bekka: (Raises eyebrows and coughs) How does Emma deal with the fame?

Evan: She’s been a real trooper, especially with the wedding planning. Everyone is up in her face, but she’s keeping calm and secretive.

Bekka: So when’s the big day?

Evan: That’s for me to know, and you to find out when it’s all done.

Bekka: Speaking of planning--I hear Emma is working on her next book in the series The Fall?

Evan: It’s going to be amazing--exactly what all the readers have been hoping for.

Bekka: So you've read Emma’s work?

Evan: Every last word.

Bekka: Do you ever give her pointers.

Evan: I like having my head on my shoulders, but yes sometimes I do.

Bekka: Is she really protective of her work?

Evan: Other people are going to tear her up as soon as it’s released...I understand her trying to keep it a secret until she’s done with it. I feel the same way about my music. Emma doesn’t hear it until it’s mostly done...well, not on purpose at least.

Bekka: Emma is from the East Coast, and you’re from the West Coast, who will relocate?

Evan: Emma will stay on the East Coast when I’m on tour and she can’t be with me. The rest of the time will be spent on the West Coast.

Bekka: Any plans for children?

Evan: We’ve talked about it, but we want to wait until both our careers hit a more calmer place. I’m getting old, but I’ve got a few years left.

Bekka: (Laughs) That’s great, thanks for joining us!

Book Feature-The Last Observer by Dr. G. Michael Vasey

7/01/2013 0 Comments

Today I’m featuring a book that has captured my interest. Check it out.

The Last Observer is a compelling tale of magic, alternative
realities, murder and conflict. An ordinary man is abruptly dragged into the middle of a violent struggle between black and white magicians who both seek to use his extraordinary powers of imagination and observation. He soon learns that reality is not at all what it seems before being called upon to play a decisive role in determining whose reality will prevail.

Dennis Wheatley brought up to date with a liberal spicing of speculation about the nature of reality, quantum physics and parallel worlds. This thriller novel is written by a practising occultist and it shows in the authenticity of every page. Highly recommended. ~ Herbie Brennan, New York Times best-selling author of Whisperers: The Secret History of the Spirit World.

Gary tells a classic tale of mystery and suspense but weaves within it a series of themes that would be at home in any modern physics text book. He masterfully uses his own extensive knowledge of modern magical rituals to create a tale that is both mysterious and intriguing. However the mystery soon gives way to something far more sinister and terrifying, a terror that explodes into a finale of epic proportions in which the fate of the universe itself is at stake. Once started this book cannot be put down and once finished you may just find yourself checking the shadows to catch a glimpse of the Lord of the Elements. ~ Anthony Peake, Author of Is There Life After Death? The Extraordinary Science of What Happens When We Die and many other books

"The Last Observer" is an amazingly absorbing story about the nature of reality and it's manipulation. It focuses on Stan, a man who finds the world he can create in his head is far more satisfying than the mundane world we all live in, and how he gets drawn into a dangerous world where people want to use his imagination to change the reality we all know. While the story itself is very well written, with characters you can relate to from the start, what I found most intriguing was the application of quantum theory to place the more fantastical elements of the story into a rational, plausible plot without overwhelming the reader with jargon or feeling like it was jarring or detracting from the events going on around our lead characters. Indeed, this is the first fiction book in ages that has made me want to investigate a topic further. I love a book that draws you in and lets you submerge yourself in the world it creates around you, much like Stan, but this book had me actually leaning in, desperate to turn the page and find out more. For those of us of a magical persuasion, the concept of using the mind to change the reality around us is familiar, and Dr Vasey writes with authority about the techniques without getting bogged down in ritual for those who are unfamiliar with the practices. In short, this is a well written book that grabs you from the start and doesn't want to let you go. I can't wait for you all to read it and see how much it makes you question your own reality. "The Last Observer" will be published August 30th by Roundfire Books. Blessed be )0( ~ WitchHazel, The Adventures of WitchHazel

Here's an excerpt. The formatting is goofy--at no fault to the author. The stupid computer/Blogger is to blame. :) However, it doesn't distract from the story.

Excerpt from chapter one:

A Dead Psychic

There was something remarkable about Michael Kent. His
crystal-clear and deep-set blue eyes, sunken into a pale and
haggard face, seemed to penetrate into the depths of your very
soul. He appeared to be capable of reaching inside of you so that
he could search through your entire contents without first having
had the courtesy to ask. Michael was a well-known psychic in
those parts. Locally famed, and at the same time loathed, for his
apparent ability to help the local constabulary solve unsolvable
crimes. Yet now he was an unsolvable crime himself.

Kent had been found dead just outside of his favorite pub, the
Rose and Crown. The back of his head caved in like a boiled egg,
and the contents of his larger-than-normal skull splattered about
the pavement. No one had seen how he had met this fate and the
local police remained stumped. Even in death, those eyes
glittered like opals as if taking in the entire world and reflecting
it back out again. His untimely death made the front page of the
local papers and had people whispering and gossiping for a few
days. Who had killed Michael Kent and why?

Edward sat reading the account of Michael’s death in an old
copy of that paper in a dimly lit and rather damp room of the
local library. Kent’s face stared out from the page and Edward felt
a strange sensation as if those eyes examined, and yes, even
judged him. For Edward, this strange and unsolved crime was
not an isolated incident but one of tens, or perhaps even
hundreds of similar murders that he had stumbled on almost by
accident. Psychics, it seemed, were dying in their droves and they
were dying strangely.

Edward leaned back in his creaky wooden chair and,
suddenly feeling as if his balance had been lost, he pushed
himself forward abruptly, attracting the disapproving looks of
his fellow library occupants. He went back over recent events
trying to convince himself that there surely couldn’t be anything
to this wave of psychic killings. However, something deep inside
told him there was.
