Author Bio:

As a young girl, Diana Marie Dubois was an avid reader and was often found in the local public library. Now you find her working in her local library. Hailing from the culture filled state of Louisiana, just outside of New Orleans; she lives with her three Great Danes and four spunky mutts.  Her biggest inspiration has always been the infamous Anne Rice and her tales of Vampires. Even in the daytime the cemetery had an eerie, spooky aura surrounding the place. The three of us walked to the mausoleum believed to house Marie Laveau’s body. The dozens of X’s placed all over made me wonder if the people actually had received the gift or wish they so desperately wanted. Or was she angered by the graffiti upon her resting place, and had exacted the appropriate revenge on those that dared mark her tomb? I sighed at the assortment of candles and bones and other things left behind for Marie.
Coldness surrounded me, before I sat down on a bench that appeared out of nowhere. Jahane stood behind me with her hand on my shoulder. The comfort that exuded from that one touch almost brought tears, but, no, not today. The time to be strong was now. I began to empty my purse when, out of my peripheral vision, I saw a ghostly figure walk around the disheveled marble mausoleum. Immediate fear and shock consumed me. She was dressed in a long flowing skirt that billowed around her without the hint of a breeze; her sheer dark skin shimmered in the sun. A beautiful shawl was draped over her shoulders, and the white tignon was tied perfectly around her head. She continued towards us, her fingertips trailing along the white marble of the giant tomb. I looked up at her in awe as her body shimmered back and forth from grainy to solid…there, but not quite there.

“Ah, mon piti,” she spoke in a mixture of English, and the lilt of her accent accentuated her creole French language. “I had hoped you would come at my invitation and visit me, as your mér had.

Book Feature: Dream Vacation Book 8 In The Dream Series By James Dibenedetto

Blurb for Dream Vacation (book 8 in the Dream Series)

Thanks to her unique ability to step into other people's dreams, Dr. Sara Alderson has solved murders, unraveled conspiracies and saved lives. But when a crisis hits close to home, even her supernatural gift might not be enough to avert disaster.

On a family vacation to Paris, Sara's fifteen-year-old daughter Grace disappears without a trace. The only way to find her is through Sara's dreams. But her gift has taken an unwanted vacation, and without it, Sara has no idea how to rescue Grace. In a foreign city, with no clues, and her dreaming talent failing her for the first time, Sara must figure out another way to find Grace before it's too late.

About the Dream Series
What if you could see everyone else’s dreams?  That’s the question Sara has to wrestle with in the Dream Series.  We first meet her as a shy, bookish college student who doesn’t think there’s anything extraordinary about herself.  And then the dreams start…

Over the course of the series, Sara learns to live with these supernatural dreams and all the trouble they plunge her into.  At the same time, she grows from a student to a practicing doctor; and from a single girl to a wife and mother.  But every time she thinks she’s got everything figured out, life – and her extraordinary dreams – teach her that she’s always got more to learn…

Three AM.  Why is it always three AM with these dreams?

“Who was it?”  He doesn’t need to ask why I’m awake and muttering at three – sorry, 3:01 AM, now.  All he needs is the details.

“Grace,” I say.  He stares at me, his eyes asking a question.  I hold his eyes, shrugging apologetically, and he’s got his answer.  A whole conversation in five seconds and one word – I guess that’s what happens after almost fourteen years of marriage.

“You were going to tell me last night, weren’t you?”

I was.  But when I walked into the bedroom and saw him lying there, just waiting for me – well, what was I supposed to do?

I scoot up next to him, smile, and trace a finger the whole length of his scar.  It really isn’t that bad.  I did about as well as anyone could have when I operated on him, considering the circumstances.  If I’d had more time to prepare, or a full surgical team, or the right facilities, there might not be a visible scar at all.  But I didn’t – and if I hadn’t operated when I did, in the middle of that horrible storm a year and a half ago, I might not have a husband now.

He doesn’t mind the scar, and, anyway, it’s just something we have in common now.  I still have the old scar from my appendectomy, so we match.  His finger goes to it now, and I shudder a little at his touch.  Just like always.  “What can I say?  I just can’t resist you.”

“I get that,” he says, with a wicked grin.  “And you didn’t tell me beforehand because…?”

He knows perfectly well why.  “You can’t keep a secret.  I mean, you can at work, I know that.  But not with me, or the kids.”

He starts to shake his head, but I glare at him, and he sighs heavily.  “I admit it,” he says finally.  It’s the same reason that, when we want to really surprise one of the kids on their birthday, I handle everything.  Brian and I agree on a dollar amount and a general idea, but I buy the actual gift myself, and he doesn’t see it until it’s unwrapped.

Tangled Roots Is Live!!!

Tangled Roots is live and now the world can read it.

However, I already have 2 reviews up on Amazon, and they’re both 5 stars.

Here is one of them:

Tangled Roots is fabulous, and here’s why: the details and background information is one-hundred percent accurate; the writing and characters are vivid and alive; and the story is tight and interesting.

This novel is a sub-story of some characters in Beyond the Eyes, but also stands alone quite nicely. Carrie always feels like an outsider, she doesn’t have a special power like her friends and boyfriend. After having a bout in the hospital with a serious condition, she is told she’s a witch. As if that’s not bad enough to dealt with, her life is about to become a nightmare; and she likes it. Demons, witches, and light walkers, all a part of Carrie’s life; how will it end?

I highly recommend Tangled Roots to all ages; the storyline will be of interest to all ages.

I was given an ARC in return for an honest review.

Since I love my readers and followers, here’s an excerpt from Tangled Roots. F.Y.I. I cut off the last paragraph, because it’s a spoiler, and I don’t want to ruin the story for the peeps who are going to read this witchy tale:

Excerpt from Tangled Roots: Isadora POV (point of view) The year 1630
I stood in a clearing deep in the forest with four followers. My fellows: Driscol, Jorsten, Lukas, and my baby brother Niklas. All of them had on the same dark, hooded cloak I wore. The torches we held blazed, casting us in a reddish orange glow against the night sky. The full moon was white, like marble glass. Its rays filtered through the canopy of trees, throwing layers of beams to the right and left of us, crisscrossing, as if the Moon Goddess was sheltering our coven from outsiders. Every cell in my body buzzed with magical energy from what I took from the earth when I made the elixirs I now carried in my pocket.
“As you know,” I said to the group, “Margaretha has been accused of causing frost on the crops in a diabolical plan to destroy her competitors, resulting in crop failure, plague, and malnutrition. Because of the loss of wine and grain, a period of hyperinflation ensued. We all know the accusation are false and misleading. Margaretha did nothing of the sort. The only guilt that weighs upon her shoulders also lies on ours: practicing control of the weather. But by no means were we the perpetrators of such stressful times. By no means did our weather-making practice stimulate the vicious nexus of supernatural beliefs and common reasoning. Nature is beautiful and ugly, temperamental even. From its bosoms, it bears wondrous gifts, but her misgivings grow beneath the surface and can erupt at any time and for any reason.” I paused long enough to look at each one of my fellows. They nodded in agreement. A fierce, affectionate love for them warmed my heart. “Margaretha,” I continued, “is innocent of all charges, so are Simone, Tobias, Ulrich, and my father.”
“Why don’t we save them?” Lukas asked.
He was the most adorable one out of the bunch, with his golden hair and eyes to match. However, he was the youngest and lacked common sense. He favored his emotions over reasoning. We were lucky to have reached him before he made a foolish mistake.
“Why ask something you already know the answer to?” Niklas asked. “Your magic is no longer effective due to your excessive use and possible punishment from the high counsel of witches.”
“But Isadora still has her magic,” Lukas countered. He met my eyes with his. There was no malice in them, only curiosity. “Why won’t you free your father and our friends? You have the power to do so.”
“My power is waning,” I told him. “I must conserve it to protect us.”
“But—” Lukas started to say, but Niklas elbowed him in the side and gestured for him to listen.
“When Jaegar told Niklas and me about the fate of our father and friends, I wanted to do nothing more than bring Hell’s fury down upon those involved in these witch hunts.” I pointed to Niklas. “He can confirm the truth I have just spoken.” Niklas nodded, and I went on. “Thankfully, Jaegar had the presence of mind to quell my wrathful state, so I could think clearly on the matter. After he departed to attend his store, I formulated a plan which would surely guarantee our survival.”
“An immortality spell,” Driscol said, a grin crossing his handsome face.
Ah, he possessed many enticing qualities that had more than once sent me in a tailspin of unvirtuous thoughts. Countless nights, as I lay skyclad beneath the moonlight, I’d envisioned straddling his tall, muscular frame and riding him as we paid homage to our ancestors. Jaegar was a skillful lover, but Driscol was a bit of a rogue—edgy and a trusted ally. Jaegar, on the other hand, I harbored reservations for. However, I was drawn to his touch and had given him my heart before I’d realized I did so. In truth, I knew it would be my undoing. There was no future for us, yet I gravitated to him like bears to honey.
“Correct,” I said, sending Driscol a flirty smile. He winked and brushed his brown hair out of his eyes. They appeared darker green than normal, and a hungry need filled them. Was it for me or for outwitting our oppressors? My body warmed at the mere thought of him touching it. “Well . . . theoretically speaking.”
“What do you mean?” Jorsten asked, shifting his weight, rubbing the stubble on his face. He was the rugged, beastly type in our group, with his dark, shoulder-length shaggy hair and dark eyes. He loved his ale and to have a grand time. He never cowered from a challenge or authority. I admired those qualities about him.
“All spells have a loophole,” I told them. “I plan on casting a transmigration spell after I see Jaegar tonight. Once this nightmare is over, we’ll meet here, and I’ll break the enchantment you’ll be under."

Heads up you guys. Tangled Roots is on sale until November. Here are the Amazon links if you're interested in purchasing it:

Also, I’m doing a book release party on Facebook this weekend. I have loads of cool stuff to giveaway. Everyone will have a chance to enter. There will also be fun games to play. Y’all are invited.
