Summer has always looked forward to spending her summers at her Aunt's beach house with the Donovans. To her, summers at Aunt Sookie's beach house was magical, especially getting to spend time with the Donovans - her best friend Rachel and Rachel's brothers Nathaniel, and Drew. Here at Aunt Sookie's beach house, they can be anyone and anything they dreamed. For Summer, she had always wished to become as pretty as Rachel and for her brothers to think of her as more than Rachel's friend. For Nat and Drew, summers at Aunt Sookie's beach house meant fun and escape, a place where they go to with their mom and sister for the summer, away from city life. They never thought this summer would be different. They never thought things would change as much as they did...and it all began with them falling for and loving Summer.

Exclusive Excerpt:

The moment Dad pulled up onto the drive, I stormed downstairs, determined to not let one more day filled with lies pass by.
When I saw him standing in the kitchen with arms full of groceries, I saw red.
“What am I?” I asked angrily, leaving him no room to doubt my certainty that I was something else.
When the bags he’d been carrying smashed to the ground, I knew he’d heard the question and understood the implications behind it. Ignoring the mess on the floor, he turned to face me. His eyes met mine for a moment, but he didn’t say anything.
I took a step closer. “What am I?”
His face was completely drained of blood as he stared at me in surprise. His mouth opened and closed silently a few times before he bowed his head.
“You’re my daughter,” he whispered finally, as if that was even close to the answer I’d been looking for.
“But what am I?”
“It’s hard to explain, Evie.” His voice was almost silent, and I wanted to shake him and demand he tell me more. Now.
“Try!”
“I wanted to tell you.”
I shook my head vigorously to stop his excuses. “You’ve been lying to me!” I felt my anger bubbling away, boiling the blood just beneath the surface of my skin. The sensation in my fingertips from earlier returned in force, bringing with it a burn that raced across the skin of my hands and up along my arms. “All of my life, you’ve lied to me!”
“No,” he said with conviction. “I’ve never ever lied to you. I just . . . haven’t told you everything, but how could I? It was too dangerous for you to know the truth.”
“Which is?” I wanted to make it clear that I was not going to back down. I would no longer accept half-truths and diversions. It was time that I knew exactly why we’d been running all of my life—and what we were running from.
“It’s still too dang—”
I cut him off with a glare. “I deserve to know.”
“It’s a long story. I’m not sure I even know where to begin.”
“No, Dad, don’t do this.” My tone left no room for argument. “Don’t hide it from me anymore. I need some real answers!” I slapped my hand against the kitchen bench twice to emphasis my point. The laminate boiled and blistered beneath my fingers. Tendrils of smoke curled around the blackened outline of my handprint. “What the hell?” I squeaked as I stared at the bench in shock and nursed my hands carefully as a lingering burn pricked them like pins and needles.

Book Review On Daring Dane By Felicia Tatum

Daring Dane is part of the Intoxicating Passion novella series. It’s the third book and an enjoyable read.

Dane is a hot frat playboy who has issues with women. Period. He’s a male whore. End of story. However, Korah who is in one of his classes, rocks his world. She’s not like all the other panty dropping girls he’s accustomed to. She’s different. When he finally gains her trust, he does the ultimate ass monkey mistake. After they have sex, he sneaks out of Korah’s house when she’s asleep and totally bails on her.

I wanted to slap him for crushing Korah’s heart like that.

Dumbass.

In the third installment to this novella series, Korah feels like an idiot for falling for Dane’s charms. But when her past rolls into her life, blindsiding her, she has no choice but to call Dane for help. He comes to her aid without question. Korah is ashamed and embarrassed to involve Dane into her unfortunate circumstances, but she has no choice. Dane wants a second chance with her, but he lost her trust and now has to suffer the consequences.

Dane is a total wreck without Korah. He begins to do some self-evaluation on why he behaves the way he does towards women. His behavior stems from his childhood. He acknowledges it and realizes his feelings for Korah are genuine.

He loves her.

Korah has feelings for Dane; however, he blew his chances the night he walked out on her. Now he has to prove himself to her in order to gain her trust back.

Will Dane be able to win Korah’s heart?

I think he will, but I won't know until the next book in this novella series comes out, which I’m looking forward to reading.

Book Review On Entangled Souls By Felicia Tatum

Entangled Souls book #1.5 is a novella that’s part of the Scarred Hearts Series. It picks up to where the last one (Mangled Hearts) left off.

Cade is a recovering alcoholic and is now doing out patient rehab. With the help of his sponsor and his fiancée Francesca, he’s dealing with the drastic changes in his life and fighting the urge not to drink. He’s also forced to work on repairing his broken relationship with his dad, whom he calls Pops.

The struggle Cade is going through with his father and his drinking problem is realistic. Felicia did a wonderful job with portraying these two situations. I found myself getting choked up towards the end with a scene concerning Cade and Pops.

Francesca has her own troubles to face and overcome. She refuses to burden Cade with them and is always there to help him through his difficult moments. She’s a strong person, though she doesn’t realize it. Not only is she a young lawyer who just opened up her own law firm, and the anniversary of her sister’s death is looming over her head, her relationship with her best friend suddenly gets fractured, devastating her.

Both Cade and Francesca’s hardships forces them to grow and overcome the obstacles that are thrown in their paths. Their love for one another continues to grow through it all. I’m looking forward to reading the next installment in this series.

FREE Ebook! Remembered by E.D. Brady

Enter the world of Vistira in the first part of the new adult, romantic fantasy series.

Author E.D. Brady’s book Remembered is FREE on Amazon. It’s a great book, and she’s a wonderful writer. I did a book review on Remembered

last summer, but here it is again:

*Spoiler Alert*

The story begins with Emily who was abandoned at the age of six and doesn’t remember her parents or the time before that. She grew up in foster homes and became friends with Cappy, who by the way, is a wonderful friend and great character. Years later, Emily begins having dreams about a hot guy who adores her and seems very real. She becomes baffled by these dreams and decides to see a psychologist in hope to root out her problems and deal with them. When Emily agrees to be hypnotized, frightening memories of being kidnapped resurface. After the disturbing session, she decides to never see the doctor again and welcomes Cappy’s unrelenting support in the matter.

When Emily decides to go on a business trip to Europe with her boss, she wanders off and finds herself in another world, and her name is Annella Derlyn.

Here is where I’m starting to love this book.

A floodgate of memories washes over Annella. She remembers the house she grew up in and goes there. She remembers her parents had died, leaving her to care for her brother Max and sister, Cora who are twins and years younger than she.

I think E.D. has a gift for writing fairytale type books, because when the story shifts into the land of Vistira, her ability as a writer dances off the page in a wonderful performance that had me smiling.

When Annella (Annie) goes to town, she sees the words The Citadom, etched on a stone building. She feels a strange flutter in her belly, but doesn’t know why. However, she does remember the building houses the Vistira’s government and law enforcers. But the men of the Citadom aren’t typical policemen, they’re more like peacekeepers, healers, and spiritual advisors wrapped into one. They’re referred to as Peacemen who took vows of celibacy. One of the Peacemen happens to be Kellus Kir. He’s an apprentice and the hot dude who was in Annie’s dreams, when she was living the life as Emily.

Deciding to change her modern clothes before she calls attention to herself, she goes home to her little cottage and sits down, absorbing all the memories of this life.

The story then shifts to when Annie meets Kellus, and a good portion of the book is backstory. But that’s okay, because it’s all good.

Kellus and Annie are instantly attracted to each other, but Kellus tries to fight it, due to his obligation as a Peaceman and the vow he took. However, eventually he gives in and admits to Annie he’s in love with her. In secret they get married. Blissfully happy, they later go back to Annie’s house. While Kellus is outside, she gets kidnapped. A spell is performed on her which propels her to an alternate universe as Emily. And though she’s only gone for six months, according to Vistira’s time, in the time of Emily, it has been sixteen years. So when Emily turns twenty-two–the same age she was when she got kidnapped–the dreams of Kellus begins and the enchantment placed upon her breaks.

The story rewinds back to Annie sitting on her floor in the cottage. She hops to her feet, changes her clothes and finds Cora and Max residing with Kellus’ family. His family is awesome, and I really like his brother Markum. It’s a heartfelt reunion because they all thought she was dead . . . well, except for Kellus. While she was missing, he believed she was still alive, telling everybody he would know if she past from their world.

But Kellus is in bad shape. He’s grief-stricken and discovers how to remedy it.

Alcohol.

With the urging of the Under Master at the Citadom, Kellus goes back as a Peaceman. Meanwhile, Annie tells his family and her two siblings exactly what happened to her. They believe her and figures out who did it and why. After Kellus is reunited with Annie, they all devise a plan to expose her captors. But things don’t go as planned and now the whole family is in danger.

What will they do to get out of this ugly mess?

You’ll have to read it to find out.

It’s a great book and it’s FREE!
