I love Halloween movies, so I decided to share some of my favorites with you.

1.) A Nightmare on Elm Street

This movie came out in 1984 and was Johnny Depp’s first movie role. I’ve seen this movie countless times and it’s still one of my all-time favorites. Hell, I even know the song the children sing in the movie.

One, two, Freddy is coming for you

Three, four, better lock your door

Five, six, grab your crucifix

Seven, eight, gonna stay up late

Nine, ten, never sleep again

2.) Friday the 13^th

This film came out in 1980. Because of this movie, every time I’m around a lake, I think of Jason Voorhees and the ChChCh AhAhAh.

3.) Poltergeist

This is a 1982 movie. I’ve watched it countless times throughout my childhood. It’s an American supernatural horror film, written and produced by Steven Spielberg. This movie was a huge success and considered a classic within the horror genre. It also has a cult following.

4.) Carrie

This is another classic horror movie based off of Stephen King’s novel. I believe it came out in 1976. Sissy Spacek did a great job playing Carrie.

5.) IT

Here’s another classic horror movie that is based off of Stephen King’s book. It came out in 1990, and I don’t know about you, but I’m not a fan of clowns.

6.) The Shining

This movie came out in 1980 and Jack Nicholson played the lead role. Who doesn’t love Jack? He's great. I don’t think any other person can pull off playing Jack Torrance. However, I won’t be surprised if Hollywood tries to remake this movie. I wish they’d stop remaking classic movies and popular shows and come up with new material. Hell, Ameerah would make a great movie and my whole Beyond the Eyes trilogy after that. Just sayin’.

. . . Anyway, The Shining is a great movie and once again Mr. King’s creation. The movie was based off of one of his books.

7.) The Others

This is a 2001 horror film that stars Nicole Kidman. It received a lot of awards which included best film and director. I really liked this movie and wouldn’t mind seeing it again.

8.) Scream

This movie came out in 1996. It’s another American slasher film directed by the ever so talented Wes Craven. It’s a good movie that’ll keep you guessing.

9.) The Craft

Here’s another good movie that came out in 1996. It’s considered a supernatural horror film. It’s about four teenage girls who are outcast and pursues witchcraft for their own gain. It’s a cool movie that has gained a cult following.

10.) Hocus Pocus

Speaking of witchcraft, this movie is a favorite to a lot of people. It came out in 1993 and is considered a comedy horror fantasy movie. It didn’t do well when it first came out, but now it’s considered a cult film. It’s a cute movie and kid friendly.

11.) Casper

This is an adorable movie and kid friendly as well. It’s a 1995 movie that’s based off of Harvey Comics cartoon character Casper the Friendly Ghost. It’s a live-action/computer-animated fantasy comedy film. If you haven’t seen it, you need to. The house in this movie is awesome.

12.) Beetlejuice

Hey, I have to mention Beetlejuice here. I remember when it came out in 1988. It’s a Tim Burton movie that’s considered both a comedy and fantasy film. It’s great. If you haven’t seen it, you’re missing out. This movie is kid friendly.

13.) Gremlins

This is a 1984 American comedy horror film that your kids can watch. I did when I was one and loved it. Steven Spielberg was the film’s executive producer, and we all know he rocks. He’s made a lot of great movies and this one is a classic IMHO.

There you have it. My top thirteen Halloween movies you need to watch.

Have you ever heard of black-eyed kids before? Honestly, I never knew about them until a few years ago.

If my parents knew, they never told me.

Apparently, countless people worldwide have been having encounters with these creepy little kids.

Sometimes these children are alone and other times they come in pairs and range from age 8-16.

They’ll tap on your window or knock on your door. With their head hung low, in a monotone and demanding voice, they’ll ask to be let in.

They promise they’re not going to hurt you and it won’t take long.

Eventually they’ll lift their gaze onto you, and their eyes are black as coal.

Bottomless.

Witnesses have said their blood ran cold when those black orbs locked onto their own eyes. A feeling of dread and horror consumed every ounce of their being.

Sounds like a Stephen King novel, huh?

But is this true?

I’ve never had an experience with these freaky kids, so I don’t know.

And if it is true, what or who are they?

Are they aliens or inter-dimensional beings?

Eyewitnesses have also said these children are pale almost translucent, and they wear either dull old-fashion clothing or plain jeans and a hoodie.

These juveniles seem to possess extraordinary powers like telepathy.

Some people who have had encounters with them said these BEKs answered their questions before they even asked them.

They know what you’re thinking.

Creepy!

Are black-eyed kids for real or are people around the world telling bogus stories so they can take part in this global phenomenon?

You should always have a backup plan—a plan B.

We have a furnace in our RV (Aesop), however, we still need to get it fixed, which we decided not to do until spring.

Btw, we’re not completely done with the renovation, but we’re getting close. I’ll get to that in a minute.

. . . Anyway, even when our furnace does work, we’re still going to want a backup heating system.

You guys, I found the perfect backup heating system for us.

Mr. Buddy.

I’m sure some of you have heard of Mr. Buddy, but I haven’t until I got involved in the RV/nomad community.

Mr. Buddy is perfect for warming up RVs, fish houses, garages, shops, etc.

Last night when we got back from our date, the temp. was 38 degrees, which was perfect for us to test out Mr. Buddy.

Kevin grabbed a one-pound propane cylinder, hooked it onto Mr. Buddy, and set Mr. B near the cockpit area.

A half hour later, our RV was nice and toasty.

Seriously.

We were amazed because even our bedroom in the back was warm.

-So, we hung out in our RV, listened to some music (powered by solar), drank some wine and brandy, and had a good time without being cold. It was great.

We did discover, though, that a one-pound cylinder only last for 3 hours if we have the setting on high. We might end up purchasing a propane adapter and hose that we can attach to a twenty-pound cylinder.

I don’t know.

Mr. Buddy is for backup heating, and so far, we love it.

Now, back to the renovation part. We’re not done yet, but we’re close.

Honestly, if we wouldn't have had a shitty summer (hot, humid, and mosquitoes), Aesop would be done.

-So, now winter is coming, we need to winterize our house-on-wheels, and once again, wait until spring to finish what’s left of the renovation.

It seems like this reno is taking forevvver.

. . . But, things are how they should be.

We’re not the only blade of grass in the prairie.

This winter, we’ll get our house ready to sell, and then put it on the market. In the meantime, I’ll finish the rewrites and edits to my Legends of Deceit book #2 as well as work on other writing/creative projects I’ve been toying with.

Oh, btw, since it’s October, I’m thinking about writing posts about my books and Halloween stuff. I think it’s fitting and will be fun for all of us.

Today I’ll be sharing an excerpt from Dark Spirits which is the second book in my Beyond the Eyes trilogy.

Excerpt:

Our ears continued to ring, but still nothing out of the ordinary caught my eyes. When we reached the parking lot, there were people filing into their vehicles and exiting the premises. I wondered if one of them could be a dark spirit. I was just about to get inside the pickup when a soft crying noise tore at my heart. It sounded heartbroken and lost. I followed the sound while Nathan stuck our bags in the backseat. I moved to the front of the pickup and there sitting on the curb was the most angelic-looking little girl I’d ever seen. She had to be about five years old, and I wondered where her mommy was. My heart immediately went out to her. She was crying in her tiny hands, leaning forward on her knees, her blonde curls tumbling over her face. She scooted her elbows above her knees while she continued to cry, pushing her blue dress up, revealing black patent leather shoes and white laced socks.

“What’s wrong, sweetie? Did you lose your mommy?” I asked, kneeling in front of her.

“Paige, no!” Nathan hollered at the same time she dropped her hands and grabbed my wrist, yanking me toward her. She was amazingly strong, completely throwing me off guard.

She slowly rolled her head around her neck, her baby face contorting into a ghastly mask, her mouth opening and closing like a fish. Then her dark glowing eyes poured into mine. I was too stunned to do anything but stare, even though her grip felt like a tourniquet around my wrist.

“Let. Her. Go,” Nathan demanded, now by my side.

The girl jerked her head up, her glowing orbs on Nathan now. “You have no power over me,” a man’s deep voice spewed forth from her pink, pouty lips, chilling me to the bone.

“No?” Nathan said, bending so his eyes were leveled with hers. “But I can break her neck, which will take you out of the equation.”

“You can’t do that, Nathan,” I gasped. “She’s a child!”

“She’s soulless, Paige,” he said, keeping his eyes trained on her. “I’m going to tell you one more time. Let. Her. Go.”

Nathan wasn’t playing around. He was serious, and his ears were red, signaling the rage boiling inside him. The dark spirit must have realized it because he released me. I stumbled sideways, falling into Nathan’s quick arms. The sheer force of it knocked us to a sitting position on the asphalt.

The little girl hopped to her feet and moved her head clockwise in little jerks, her mouth opened in a silent scream. She stepped forward and stopped in front of us. Her eyes rolled to the back of her head, then focused on me, dark and glowing. She grimaced and blinked, her eyes now blue. “Help me,” she said in a sweet toddler voice.

I reached for her, but Nathan snatched my wrist, locking his arms around mine. The girl scowled. She closed her eyes, and when she opened them, they were dark and glowing again. I sucked in a sharp intake of breath, and her mouth formed a circle. Her head fell back in deep laughter. It was dark, sinister, and male.

She stopped, glared at me, and pointed. “Vos ero pessum ire,” she said in the same deep man’s voice as before. Then she turned and ran away.
