Where Has the Time Gone?

Dude, I haven’t posted a blog post in almost a year. 😮

Omg, where has the time gone?

I know.

I know. 🙄

Most of us always say: where has the time gone?

But, seriously. I should post more here or get rid of my Blogger account.

The truth is, I don’t want to close Blogger.

I love it. 🥰

I’m attached to it, like a spider monkey.

I try not to have attachments.

But I am attached to my Blogger account and my stuffy Coonie.

We won’t talk about Coonie though . . .

. . . Hell, I’m a minimalist.

I basically have no attachments.

My life is simple. No drama, not a lot of superfluous stuff, and for the most part peaceful.

I live in one of the most beautiful places on earth – the Southern Coast of Oregon.

I’m not braggin’ because the cost of living is insane here, BUT . . .

BUT! It’s the first place that I’ve felt at home.

A connection.

A peace.

I think it’s because I’m surrounded by nature (the Pacific Ocean, the mountains, the deep, plush forest, the river, and the creeks).

I work for the State of Oregon in human services, which has been a blessing because it aligns with the path that I’m on. So, during the day Monday through Friday, a lot of times, I deal with the dark part of humanity (domestic violence, drug addiction, child abuse, homelessness, etc.). In my off time, I work on myself, my mental health, exploring that endless rabbit hole, and writing that next book or figuring shit out so I CAN create a world that you and I can escape and have fun in . . .

. . . But yeah, since I flipped my life in 2017, seven years ago, it’s been a hard road at times, however, coming out the end of it now, or maybe close to it, I’m not the same person as I was, and it was all worth giving up basically everything to be where me and my life partner are now.

So focusing on OUR mental health has been a HUGE priority in our lives, and it still is and always will be.

On the book front, my next book (The Last O’Clery Witch) is in developmental edits. It was going to be published this year, but due to unforeseen family emergencies, production was placed on hold, which is no big deal. I’m not concerned with exactly when my book will be published. I’m just grateful The Last O’Clery Witch found a home with a publisher that ticks all the boxes in what I wanted as my first publisher.

I will post about The Last O’Clery Witch as I get information on it because I love this blog.

I’m going to do what makes me happy, have fun, and go with inspired action. 😁

In the future, my publisher is supposed to set up a website for me, which rocks. You’ll be able to go there to find The Last O’Clery Witch and fun stuff to participate in, contests, and swag related to the series.

Till next time my loves! ✌️

New Book and Life Update

It’s been a few months since I last posted in here, and I wanted to give you a quick update on what’s been going on.

Right now, we’re dealing with the horrible wildfires.

We now live on the southern coast in Oregon, which Omigod I fucking love it here, but the fires are bad, you guys.

Yesterday morning I woke up in a dark bedroom and house. My first thought was a cloudy and rainy day.

Not!

I looked out the window and saw the orange sky and ash falling from it.

Today we were told to stay indoors because the air quality sucks, well we didn’t listen and took a walk anyway.

Bad idea.

We turned around and went back home.

My chest now feels heavy as if I smoked a pack of cigarettes in one night. It also hurts and so does my head. 😬

So, yeah, we learned our lesson.

Hey, I’m an INFJ, and I don’t like to be told what to do. 🤷‍♀️

Anyway, that’s what’s currently going on besides dealing with Covid-19, which should be over soon.

I do have some book news, and I’ll have more later. 😉

I have a title and a name for this new paranormal series I'm writing . . .

The book title is: The Last O’Clery Witch

The book series’ name is:
The Grimbrook Series

As I’m writing this rough draft, I’m learning things that I’ve always wanted to learn because my main character (Ainsley) who is a witch is into those things, like crystals, making tinctures, herbal remedies, tarot card readings, etc.

I’ve always been into that stuff and used to do tarot card readings . . .

. . . But then I stopped.

I lost those parts of myself I loved because I had decided to assimilate to society’s standards instead. 🙄

Don’t do that, you guys.

Be your 100% self.

You do you.

I can get into the whole story of how I dismantled my life (I started it in August of 2017), threw out the old script that was spoon-fed to me since birth, and started writing my own.

I’m now the happiest I’ve ever been in my entire life . . .

. . . But this post would be way too long for that.

So, through research and during my own time, I’ve been learning more about crystals, zodiac signs, astrology, etc.

It’s really cool stuff.

I'm loving it.

I made this star and added a hag stone (we trimmed the ends after I took this photo) to it.

The materials are all-natural (the sticks were from the forest in the mountains, the string is hemp, and the hag stone I found on the beach).

For years, we’ve hung a star like this above our front door.

It wards off negative and evil people.

It totally works, at least, for us it has.

The hag stone is for an extra punch of power.

I made another protection star I’m going to use as a prize in a giveaway. 😊

Btw, Ainsley makes them as well.

So, I might be doing some witchy-cool post here that relates to this story I’m writing. I know my newsletter subscribers want me to in my newsletters, which btw, I’ll be sending one out on the 16th.

Have a great weekend!

Cheers! 🥂

Book Announcement

Yes, I know it’s been a couple of months since I posted in here, but a lot has been going on.

Like the rest of you guys, we’ve been “sheltering in” during those months, however, we did go on little adventures away from people.

We ran into Moss Man while we were out exploring the forest. 😬

In February we decided to stay in Oregon after trying out van life, and as you can see from the pictures, we love it here. 🥰

I plan to be where we’re at for the rest of my life.

We’re still in limbo, though . . .

. . . But that’s okay. It’s not forever.

I did lose my creative spark during that time, which concerned me. A lot.

I tried all of my tricks to overcome my lack of creativity.

Nothing worked!

I read through my entire Beyond the Eyes trilogy and its companion books (Tangled Roots and Ameerah).

I took notes with the idea of turning the trilogy into a series.

After I was done, there was no spark or excitement.

Nothing.

I thought I was doomed.

I decided to write about how I felt and asked myself questions.

It did help, but the creative drive wasn’t all there.

So, I did something that some of you might think is nuts (witchy woo-woo).

I smudged our house with white sage and it worked! 🤗

No kidding!

It totally did.

I’m seriously thinking about writing a blog post about sage-smudging your house. 🤔

Anyway, my book announcement is this . . .

. . . I’m starting a new book series! 😁

It’ll be in the paranormal genre.

The story will have witches, werewolves, and other paranormal creatures in it.

The first book in the series might take me a while to write because I have other projects I’m working on as well. One of them will align with this story, so if everything flows with it, I’ll tell you more about the project after it kicks off. 😉

The first chapter is written btw, but there is a bit of research to do, and I’m working on planning out the series, which takes time, but it’s fun.

The main character (Ainsley) who is an immortal witch is already surprising me.

I remember when I was writing Ameerah’s character, I had no idea she was a lesbian until she told me she was.

I know that sounds nutty, but the characters talk to the author.

I do need a name for the first book and series.

I suck at coming up with titles.

But it’ll come to me.

I will be doing some giveaways in the future, but if you want to get in on some exclusive, top-secret information and prizes, you can sign up for my newsletter here:

Have a great week!

Cheers! 🥂

Top Thirteen Halloween Movies You Need To Watch

I love Halloween movies, so I decided to share some of my favorites with you.

1.) A Nightmare on Elm Street

This movie came out in 1984 and was Johnny Depp’s first movie role. I’ve seen this movie countless times and it’s still one of my all-time favorites. Hell, I even know the song the children sing in the movie.

One, two, Freddy is coming for you
Three, four, better lock your door
Five, six, grab your crucifix
Seven, eight, gonna stay up late
Nine, ten, never sleep again

2.) Friday the 13th

This film came out in 1980. Because of this movie, every time I’m around a lake, I think of Jason Voorhees and the ChChCh AhAhAh.
3.) Poltergeist

This is a 1982 movie. I’ve watched it countless times throughout my childhood. It’s an American supernatural horror film, written and produced by Steven Spielberg. This movie was a huge success and considered a classic within the horror genre. It also has a cult following.
4.) Carrie

This is another classic horror movie based off of Stephen King’s novel. I believe it came out in 1976. Sissy Spacek did a great job playing Carrie.
5.) IT

Here’s another classic horror movie that is based off of Stephen King’s book. It came out in 1990, and I don’t know about you, but I’m not a fan of clowns.
6.) The Shining

This movie came out in 1980 and Jack Nicholson played the lead role. Who doesn’t love Jack? He's great. I don’t think any other person can pull off playing Jack Torrance. However, I won’t be surprised if Hollywood tries to remake this movie. I wish they’d stop remaking classic movies and popular shows and come up with new material. Hell, Ameerah would make a great movie and my whole Beyond the Eyes trilogy after that. Just sayin’.

. . . Anyway, The Shining is a great movie and once again Mr. King’s creation. The movie was based off of one of his books.
7.) The Others

This is a 2001 horror film that stars Nicole Kidman. It received a lot of awards which included best film and director. I really liked this movie and wouldn’t mind seeing it again.
8.) Scream

This movie came out in 1996. It’s another American slasher film directed by the ever so talented Wes Craven. It’s a good movie that’ll keep you guessing.
9.) The Craft

Here’s another good movie that came out in 1996. It’s considered a supernatural horror film. It’s about four teenage girls who are outcast and pursues witchcraft for their own gain. It’s a cool movie that has gained a cult following.
10.) Hocus Pocus

Speaking of witchcraft, this movie is a favorite to a lot of people. It came out in 1993 and is considered a comedy horror fantasy movie. It didn’t do well when it first came out, but now it’s considered a cult film. It’s a cute movie and kid friendly.
11.) Casper

This is an adorable movie and kid friendly as well. It’s a 1995 movie that’s based off of Harvey Comics cartoon character Casper the Friendly Ghost. It’s a live-action/computer-animated fantasy comedy film. If you haven’t seen it, you need to. The house in this movie is awesome.
12.) Beetlejuice

Hey, I have to mention Beetlejuice here. I remember when it came out in 1988. It’s a Tim Burton movie that’s considered both a comedy and fantasy film. It’s great. If you haven’t seen it, you’re missing out. This movie is kid friendly.
13.) Gremlins

This is a 1984 American comedy horror film that your kids can watch. I did when I was one and loved it. Steven Spielberg was the film’s executive producer, and we all know he rocks. He’s made a lot of great movies and this one is a classic IMHO.
There you have it. My top thirteen Halloween movies you need to watch.

Do you have a favorite?

If so, what is it?

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

A Quick Cool Tip For Authors

I have a cool tip for authors like myself but there’s a quick story that goes along with it.

I was interviewed by AP (Alternate Perceptions) Magazine hereà http://www.apmagazine.info/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=1122&Itemid=194 and a gal in my town read it. She stopped by my office on Monday and told me she had been wanting to read my books. Here’s how the conversation went:

Gal: “I read your interview. Wow. Your parents were UFO and paranormal investigators . . . and your books. Where can I get them?”

Me: “You can get them on Amazon or Sweets ‘N Stories here in town. They might still have them. I do have some in the trunk of my car.”

Gal: *Her face lit up* “Really?”—She motioned to go outside—“Let’s go see.”

Me: “Okay.”

We went outside, and I popped open the trunk of my car open and dug in the box. “I have the first book.”—I handed it to her. She asked me how much, and I told her—“I also have the other two books in the trilogy. If you like the–”

Gal: “I’ll take those, too!”

Me: “Okay.” I told her the total price, she wrote the check, and handed it to me. When she got in her car, she told me she’d write a review for each of my books on Amazon.

Double score if she does.

So what is my author tip?

Did you figure it out?

Always keep some of your books in the trunk of your car.

Seriously.

This isn’t the first time this happened to me.

Another time was when I was buying a cell phone. The gal who owned the business had read the first book (Beyond the Eyes) in the trilogy and had asked me about the second book. I’d never seen this gal in my life and didn’t have a clue she was a fan of mine. Anyway, I told her I had the second book in the trunk of my car. She was absolutely thrilled and bought it right there.

So, yeah. Keep a copy of your paperback books in the trunk of your car.

Cheers!

When Is The Next Book Coming Out?

I’ve been writing the second book to Legends of Deceit since the end of last summer.

Do I have a title name yet?

Nope.

There will be a title after I tackle the first revision.

When will it be out?

I’m hoping this year.

*fingers and piggies crossed*

I’m almost done with the first draft. I would have been done sooner, but I have other things going on in my life that require my attention as well.

#futureplansinthemaking

Writing a book is a long ass process. I know there are authors who write a book a month or every other month.

I don’t know how they do it.

But I’ve come to the realization every writer is different.

If I were to compare myself to others, I’d be doing myself a disservice.

The only author/writer I should be comparing myself to is myself.

Am I advancing in my craft/art?

Do I love to write?

Am I having fun writing?

So I no longer fret or get all balled up in a knot over how long it takes for me to churn out a novel. The important part is if those three questions are answered with a yes, and that I put out good quality stories for you guys—the readers.

Legends of Deceit is a two book series.

Oh, and guess what?

It’s  .99 cents right now.

I don’t know how long Legends of Deceit is going to stay on sale, but right now it’s $3.00 off the regular price.

Here’s where you can get it for .99 centsà

Also, I was interviewed to be in a paranormal e-magazine called
Alternative Perceptions. Once it’s published, I’ll letcha know.

Until next time.

Happy New Year!

I want to wish everyone a  . . .

May this one be the best yet.

My 2017 was productive, tough, and full of inward growth. Here’s a quick breakdown of it.

The hubster and I quit smoking. He put the suckers down April 1st and a month later, I did.

My relationship went through some tough times. I honestly think it had to do with us not smoking. We’re all good now, but there were months last year that was a struggle to get through.

We got some improvements done on our house—a new window and the enclosed front porch.

We bought and planted two fruit trees—an apple and plum.

We planted a garden.

We planted daisies.

I released my first fantasy/paranormal book (Legends of Deceit).

You can get it here-->

I started writing the second book in Legends of Deceit’s two book series.

I had a landing page created for my books. You can check it out here--> http://rebekkahford.com/

We bought a class A RV that’s in great shape. We plan on renovating it in the spring to make it our own. I’ll talk more about that later.

I had to get fillings in my teeth—which I don’t think I had to—that my EX-dentist . . . yes, EX-dentist did.

I had to get a root canal.

I learned a lot more about myself and what direction I want to take my life.

Last year, I learned a lot of deep shit, you guys. I’m talking psychological, philosophical, going down the rabbit hole type of shit that changed Kevin and I. And we’re not done. Far from it. LOL.

Anyway, I have a lot of plans for 2018. So stay tuned!

Peace!
