Ghost Haunting

Yay! I was finally able to get on Blogger tonight. I don’t know what happened, but I’m so glad it’s working now. :)

Oh! Have you guys ever heard of the ‘walking taco?’ It’s one of the coolest ideas ever. You take a grab bag of Doritos, crunch the bottom of the bag up with your hand, cut the top of the bag off, put lettuces, taco meat, onions, taco sauce, black olives, tomatoes, and cheese on it. And then you get a fork and can walk around with it without having mess.

Pretty cool, huh?

I never heard of a ‘walking taco’ until we moved here to North Dakota.

Now, moving on to what I had planned to post yesterday . . .

As most of you know, I grew up in a family that dealt with the paranormal, and although my parents had gone their separate ways when I was eight, the paranormal world still remained a constant in our household. I have no doubt in my mind that is why I love writing and talking about the supernatural world. And what is cool is, I can take my experiences and weave it into my stories. It’s kind of comical though, I fell in love and married a person who is totally not into this type of thing. It’s not like Kevin doesn’t believe in this stuff, but his argument is this: why go there? There’s too much going on in this world, and if we were to focus our energy on the supernatural world, we could easily slip into Peter Pan land and would want to stay there because it would be much more interesting than the mundaneness of our daily life.

True. I can understand that, however, my comeback to his argument is this: if you’re a logical, levelheaded person who can still live your daily life and not fall into the trap or allow your mind to be easily swayed into living a hocus pocus life, then why not? But what I appreciate about Kevin is he doesn’t expect me to mold my ideas and beliefs to his. He doesn’t want me to, which is a good thing because there’s no way I would anyway, and he respects the fact I’m my own person. Granted, it would be awesome if he were into it, but I could understand his beef about it.

Anyway, I ran across this video of a shadow person or spirit and wanted to share it with you. When I was very young, we lived in a house that was haunted. I remember this one night, I went into my sister’s room and crawled into her bed. She asked me what was wrong, and I told her I saw a witch. Before I had done that, my sister had seen a shadowy figure go down the hallway towards my room. Of course, being as young as I was, for some reason I thought it was a witch. Maybe because I used to have the same dream over and over again of being in the woods and seeing a figure wearing a cloak, beckoning me towards it.

Weird, right?

So check out this video. I had to post the link because the video won't post here.

So what do you think? I know a lot of videos tend to be bogus, however, this one reminded me of the shadowy figure in our house, and of other ones I've seen throughout my life. I could even go as far as to say it was a dark spirit from my Beyond the Eyes series. But there's more to it than that, and those who have already read my book know what I'm talking about.

Talk to ya later.

Haunted Houses in Town

Last week I was at the beauty salon getting my hair done (yeah, I’m not a natural blond), telling the beautician who does my hair about when my parents were UFO investigators. I didn’t go into the UFO stuff and only briefly mentioned about when my dad used to hunt for Big Foot. I did tell her about the mysterious stain Dad had investigated, which propelled our conversation into haunted houses.

At the beginning of our conversation, I’ll admit, I did silently wonder if I should continue to open up to her about the paranormal and how my life had been deeply entrenched with it while growing up.

I mean, what if she thought I was a nutcase?

But then I thought, you know what. Screw it.

Yeah, I live in a small town and rumors spread quickly around here, but I’m not going to change who I am in fear of being ridiculed or ostracized.

I know I’m not a freak, and I don’t live in fantasy land. I’m like my dad who needs solid evidence, not bullshit. I need to see it with my own eyes and the experience has to be tangible, leaving no doubts in my mind. So if people think I’m a nut because of my family history, what I believe in, what interests me, and what I write. . . .

Well, so be it.

And that was what I had said to myself, punctuating it with a mental shrug, right before I launched into a paranormal conversation with my beautician.

When I told her the story about the blood stain, she surprised me when she shared a story about a haunted house here in town. She told me there was a murder suicide in a two-story house about a mile from where I live, and the people who live there swear it’s haunted.

I wanted to know more, but she didn’t offer up more details about it. Maybe because she didn’t know much more than that, or maybe she was concern I might think she was a nutcase.

Nah, that couldn’t be it, considering I had already confided in her about my family.

I told her when Kevin and I moved here, I had wondered if any of the houses in town were haunted because most of the houses here are old, like a hundred years old.

Not ours though, our house was built in the thirties, and it’s not haunted.

Anyway, as I was leaving, a client came in to get his hair cut and my beautician asked him (to my surprise) if he believed in ghosts. And, again to my surprise ( I was constantly surprised during my appointment) he told her he did. In fact, he claims his house is haunted, and he had thought about calling ‘Ghost Hunters’ to investigate.

When he said that, I thought, damn, I would love to investigate his ghost haunting, but then again, I don’t have the equipment to do it.

He told us that every time he and his wife discuss remodeling the house, something weird happens, like a glass on the kitchen counter shattering all by itself.

Kind of spooky, huh?

Hearing the stories about the two houses makes me wonder if there are more houses in this small town that are haunted. It also makes me wish my dad lived here because then we could get together and start our own investigation team.

Wouldn’t that be fun?

I think so.

I’m just grateful for the experience I have because I can use it to write cool stories, blending fiction with truth, like I did in my 'Beyond the Eyes' series. And if my books do become popular (when they get published), I can share that part of my life with the world as an added bonus to my stories.

Now that would be cool.

HAPPY FRIDAY!

Much love.

*blows a kiss*

Be safe and enjoy your weekend. I’m sure you deserve it. :)

Haunted House.

Haunted houses and spirits in general have always fascinated me.

I wonder why a spirit would haunt a house. I mean, when we die why wouldn’t we want to move on to the next plane of existence, it’s supposed to be awesome, right?

The first book I had written two years ago is about a teenage girl who attempts suicide, but instead of dying she meets her guide and crosses over with him. He tells her heaven is not one place and uses the analogy that heaven is like our body and the trillions of cells on our body are like the different realms spirits can go to. It’s mind boggling, and the human mind can’t wrap itself around it. So he takes her to some of the different realms, and then eventually back to earth, to a house that’s being haunted. She asks him why this spirit won’t cross over, and he tells her the spirit is attached to the house. But not only that, the spirit is stubborn, selfish, and afraid. I remembered wondering as I wrote that chapter if that was true.

Is that one of the main reasons spirits haunt a house?

When I was very young, we lived in a nice house that had a huge basement where my parents would hold their UFO meetings.

This house was haunted.

I don’t remember any paranormal activity except I didn’t like being in the basement by myself, and still to this day, I have bad dreams about a basement.

I often wonder if something had happened to me, but I was too young to remember. However, the subconscious knows and stirs up one of those dreams from time to time.

I don’t know, but I was told some weird shit had happened in that basement.

For example, a friend of my parents was staying over one night. He went to the basement to crash for the night, and a while later he was bounding up the stairs, the color drained from his face. He told my parents that the covers levitated off of him, and then refused to go back into the basement.

Noises.

Mom had told me that sometimes in that house it sounded like somebody was taking a tin cup and running it along metal bars (click, click, click, click). She also told me that one night she had heard a couple who was arguing about their 17-year-old son, and they were slamming cupboards in the kitchen. She said that they got so loud she had to scream for them to shut up.

I don’t know if that’s true, but that's what she told me.

There’s a story my sister and I share that has to do with that house. Memory wise, the event is fuzzy to me because I was probably 3 or 4 years old at the time, but since she’s 4 years older than I, she’s much clearer on it. Anyway, she was in her room trying to go to sleep when she saw something that was dark float outside her room, down the hall. She got up to tell my dad, and he told her she was dreaming and to go back to bed. So she did, and a while later I left my room and crawled into bed with her. I vaguely remember seeing a dark-hooded figure go by my room. Now I don’t know if I actually saw a dark-hooded figure because sometimes your memory can play tricks on you, but I do remember crawling in bed with her, and telling her that I saw a witch. And she remembers it too.

Ya know, for years I had a scary dream about a hooded figure standing at the mouth of a deep dark forest. In the dream, it’s nighttime, and I'm standing in a meadow. The figure beckons me to come to it, but I’m too scared and wake up.

I wonder now if that dream had anything to do with what my sister and I had seen that night. I wish I could remember and say for sure that yup, I did see a dark-hooded figure outside my room, but honestly I can’t. And it’s so easy to slip into Peter Pan land because it’s much more appealing than the mundaneness of every day life.

But I don’t want to live in fantasy land. I want to know the truth, the facts.

Honestly though, I can say for sure about some of the other things that had happened to me throughout my life did happen. I’ll bring it up in another post since this one is getting too long.

Anyway, I wonder about haunted houses and would actually love to investigate them.

Maybe someday I will and write a book about it.

Maybe someday I can find the answers that I seek and have factual evidence to share with the world.

Maybe someday I’ll be able to share my light with the world like I want to and peel back each layer of my soul so people know they’re not alone because this is what I went through, and on some level, we all go through.

Maybe someday I’ll be able to make a difference instead of slipping through the cracks and leaving this world as if I never had even existed here.

Just maybe. . . .
