We Sold The Van

We sold the van last Friday.

It was a bittersweet day.

K wasn’t into van life at all and wanted to sell the van.

I didn’t want to, but I also wasn’t going to drive it because I didn’t feel comfortable behind the wheel. 😬

Once we both agreed to put it up for sale, we imagined who we’d want to buy it.

He or she would love the van and appreciate the build.

We visualized a hippie/boho type of person who wouldn’t have the funds to build a campervan on her/his own.

At first, we priced it at a fair rate and got a lot of interest in it, but then the coronavirus happened. ☹️

We still got calls, but nothing stuck.

We told ourselves the right person would come along and buy it.

We needed to trust in the process, just like we did when we thought our house wouldn’t sell in the middle of winter in North Dakota.

We decided to lower the price, knowing the next owner couldn’t afford what we currently had it at.

We took off $3,000.00.

Selling the van wasn’t about profit, it was about enriching someone else’s life, someone who would enjoy the van and take good care of it.

Not too long after that, we sold it to the cutest couple ever. 🥰

They were exactly how we envisioned the new owners to be – part of our tribe.

Everything flowed perfectly, and we enjoyed their company.

I told K that I’d probably get a campervan in the future - one that I could drive.

I love them.

I always have.

So where does that leave our Dare to Live YouTube channel?

To be honest, K lost interest in making videos.

Me, on the other hand, might continue with the channel on my own.

We live in a place where we’ll never run out of adventures.

I had asked our Dare to Live followers what I should do and they said to keep the channel and the Facebook Dare to Live Channel page. If anything, I could continue to post on there. https://www.facebook.com/daretolivechannel/?modal=admin_todo_tour

It's still kind of hard to believe we sold the van.

We had put so much of ourselves into it.

Pictures of my book covers are on the high-roof.

What a trip.

I hope the new owners are having fun and enjoying their new house on wheels.

I'm glad they have it.

I also hope the van will be good to them like it was to us.

Everything happens for a reason.

There are no regrets.

We are where we are now because we decided to dismantle our lives, step out of our comfort zone and build the life we want.

The van was part of that journey and I’ll forever be grateful for it. 😊

I’m still alive

I know it’s been a long ass time since I posted on this blog.

I hope you're still with me.

Just in case you were wondering, I’m alive and well . . .

. . . But if you read my last post on here and have been following me on my other social media platforms, you pretty much know what’s going on.

If not, lemme fill you in.

I started this year contemplating whether to delete this blog, but I decided not to because I started it when I was new to the publishing world.

Wandering Thought of a Writer is close to my heart.

I love it. 😍

Yeah, WordPress is more of a professional platform to use and I did start one, but I’ll get to that in a few.

Maybe one day I’ll have a WordPress website for just my books, but as far as I know, it’s not going to be soon.

Besides I’m happy with this blog.

If people find it unprofessional and judge me, well then so be it. 🤷‍♀️

At the end of last year, I designed a WordPress website for me and Kevin (hubby), and it went live in January.

The website is called Exploring Rabbit Holes.

You can check it out here à http://exploringrabbitholes.com/

Please follow if you do.

There’s a lot of useful information on there that I write about.

Exploring Rabbit Holes is a hub for my books, our writing, Kevin’s artwork, my freelancing page, and our Dare to Live YouTube Channel.

We figured our subscribers and followers can go there and find everything in one spot.

It’s much more convenient for them.

I do not have a page for my books, only a tab that’ll take the reader straight to my Amazon Author Page.

For now, this blog is for my books.

Kevin has a blog on our website called Down the Rabbit Hole.

He writes some deep ass shit.

It’s about ego, self-realization, and awakening.

When he writes, he’s writing to himself, so what he writes isn’t pointing fingers at the reader or bashing how they live.

He hasn’t made that clear yet, and I suspect some people will take offense to some of his writings.

But he writes some cool ass shit, and I’m not saying that because he’s my bestie and husband.

His content makes you think. 🤔

If you’re a deep thinker, check it out.

Anyway, this year has been a life-changing year for us.

Hell, the last 2 ½ years have been huge.

If I remember, I’ll write a post about this year and share it with you in January, then you’ll know why I haven’t been active on this blog.

On The Book Front:

1.) Book #2 to Legends of Deceit is written.

It’s waiting for edits and going through the whole publishing process.

I don’t know when it’s going to get published, but I’ll letcha know when it does.

2.) I might have some upcoming publishing news to share with you.

If things work out the way I hope, I’ll post the news here.

3.) Another announcement I have is I’m going to be expanding on my Beyond the Eyes trilogy which will turn into a series.

This will happen once my life gets back in order.

Currently, we’re waiting for our house to sell, working on growing our Dare to Live YouTube Channel, our brand, and me doing freelance work, among other things.

Once we sell the house, we’ll officially be digital nomads – traveling the US in our homemade camper van.

We’ll be filming our journey and sharing it on our Dare to Live YouTube Channel.  http://bit.ly/2EMuEtx

So, I’ll probably be writing the next book in my Beyond the Eyes trilogy while on the road unless it takes a long ass time to sell our house, which I hope not.

4.) I wrote a short story for an author Christmas takeover event that has a little bit of horror in the tale.

Honestly, I have a difficult time writing short stories and find it much easier to write a novel.

It’s weird, I know, but that’s just who I am.

I did manage to write one, and it’s supposed to go live on December 20, 2019. I also did an author interview.

I’ll post them here if you’re interested in reading them.

So, I’m alive and well.

I’m not going to lie, it’s nice to be back on here. 😊

My passion is writing stories, publishing, and helping other writers with their books.

If you have any questions to ask me, feel free to do so. I’ll answer them as soon as I can.

Cheers! 🥂

Stepping Out Of My Comfort Zone

Kevin and I created a video today about what minimalism means to us.

As you know we’re total newbies, but hey, you gotta start somewhere, right?

I’m totally out of my comfort zone when it comes to pictures of me and now being in a video, especially close-up shots.

Why?

Honestly, it's because how I was treated during my childhood. I had a huge overbite and was teased a lot.

. . . But I’m working on overcoming my issues with my looks and what better way to do that than put myself out there on YouTube.

I’m stepping out of my comfort zone.

I have to say, though, Kevin is pushing me to just do it.

He said today, “Fuck it. Let’s just do it. I have two missing bottom teeth that I need to get fixed and will. So what? We’re newbies, and this is how we learn. One day we’ll look back on it and see how far we progressed from our earlier videos."

He’s totally right.

We’ll know what shots work and what doesn’t.

-So, we made a video today on what minimalism means to us, and I mentioned a totally weird thing we’ve been doing that is totally out of our comfort zone.

It’s live on our Dare To Live Youtube Channel. Here’s the link . . .

If you like it, please click the thumbs up and subscribe. Also, if you click on the bell, you’ll get notified every time a new video goes live.

. . . Anyway, as I said before, this is totally out of my comfort, but that’s good because growth and opportunity will breed from it. Also, life begins at the end of your comfort zone.

I’m daring to live. 😜

Why We're Ditching The Conventional Lifestyle And Daring To Live

As you guys know, we’ve been renovating our RV. We’d be totally done by now if the weather wasn’t so miserably hot and humid last summer.

Those of you who have been following me know that Kevin and I were going to start a YouTube Channel to document our journey.

. . . Well, Kevin started it, posted up some content, and today we filmed an About Us episode. We’re totally newbies, but hey, every pro was once a newbie.

Growth begins and magic happens when you step out of your comfort zone.

What's A Minimalist?

Being a minimalist can mean many things:

You only own the things you can carry in a backpack, suitcase, or car.

You downsize your life, intentionally living with fewer possessions.

Minimalism is basically owning less stuff so you can have more freedom to do what’s most important to you.

It’s living simply.

It’s discarding the things that doesn’t serve you and keeping the things that do.

It comes down to this . . .

What do you value most in life?

A minimalist lives her life deliberately, simply, and is selective with what she keeps in her life and how she spends her time. She does what matters to her.

Now just because someone is a minimalist, doesn’t mean he gave up all the comforts and convenience of life.

Hell, no.

If he uses something often, he keeps it.

However, there’s the extreme minimalist who only owns the stuff in his backpack.

The cool thing about being a minimalist, besides the whole concept, is it’s not about depriving yourself, it’s about removing the excess in your life—all the crap that’s been weighing you down, AND you’re in charge of how you want to be a minimalist.

…There are no set rules.

Last summer I was feeling low.

I had no idea why.

One evening, I was alone, standing in our dining room, looking at all of our stuff.

STUFF.

Why in the hell do we have all of this crap?

It doesn’t serve us.

And I'm living the same life . . .

Every. Frickin'. Day.

If I continue living like this, my life will be the same until I die.

Wash. Rinse. Repeat.

I'm existing.

Not living!

Then it hit me.

I’ve been feeling weighed down and enslaved by all the things we have and don’t need.

Bingo!

I found my problem.

My thoughts took it further.

Kevin and I own a small 2-story house. It has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and a basement. We spend most of our time in 2 rooms.

The rest is wasted space.

Hmmmm.

When Kevin got home that night, I told him how I felt and what I discovered.

He was all for becoming a minimalist, and somehow the whole RV idea came into fruition.

So next weekend we’re having a huge yard sale.

HUGE!

I know we’ll still have a bunch of things to get rid of before we become full-timers (digital nomad), but we’ll be putting a nice size dent into getting rid of the stuff that doesn’t serve us.

Once we get to the point to where everything we own fits into our RV (Aesop), I’ll be able to say we’re minimalist and proud of it.

Stepping Out Of Her Comfort Zone To Truly Live

She stepped into the unknown, unaware of what to expect. Excitement vibrated throughout her entire being, even though she wasn't familiar with this new way of life. But it spoke of freedom, living close to nature, discovering self, what it was like to be truly human, to inspire others and to truly live instead of just existing. She knew that if she remained where she was, living the same monotonous life every day, it would result in a slow, boring death, a waste of life, stunted by the opinion of others and their group mentality that served no purpose but to appease their artificial ideals and games to avoid internal growth and to truly exist. She wouldn't have none of that and decided to be like a wolf instead of a sheep. She lived life to her full potential, being present in each moment in the awakened self. When death came for her, she smiled at her and took her hand because she didn't waste her life and fall prey to the opinions of others, their conformities, and the fear of stepping out of her own comfort zone. She could now move on with her head held high and a smile on her face while death leads her to her next journey through eternity.
