Interview with a Dark Spirit.

You’re not going to believe this, but I was able to get an interview with the one and only Ameerah. Of course, she already had told me her story, so I didn’t think she’d be up for an interview.

Why?

Well . . . because at the moment she’s not too fond of humans, that’s why.

How did it happen?

It was the other night. I was talking to my dad on the phone. He lives in Ohio. I live in North Dakota. He’s still having a hard time with my step-mother’s sudden death, and I’ve been checking in on him. Anyway, ten minutes after I hung up the phone, no shit, it rang. I didn’t recognize the number on caller I.D. so I didn’t answer. The answering machine picked up, and Ameerah’s voice rang throughout the room, telling me to pick up. She told me she was bored and thought it would be interesting if I interviewed her. Of course, I jumped at the opportunity. I’m not going to tell you everything we talked about because it has to do with what’s going on in the world today and if you’ve read Ameerah, you’ll know the dark spirits who can possess soulless humans—yes, there are humans born without a soul—has their grubbing hands in our government, financial institutions, and so forth. Who do you think caused the wars, the stock market crash, the Great Depression, Vietnam . . .? Yeah, they did. Ameerah gave me some hints on what’s going to happen in our future, but I promised her I wouldn’t tell anyone . . . well, except for my husband Kevin. She did agree to that.

Anyway, here’s our conversation.

Ameerah: “For fuck’s sakes, pick up the damn phone. It’s Ameerah. I know you’re there.”

Me: “Ameerah! Omg! I wasn’t expecting you to call me. How are you?”

Ameerah: “I’m great. I’ve been teaching these cheating humans how shitty it is to betray their significant other, and I’ve been having a ball doing it.”

Me: “What about Nathan and Paige—the immortals?”

Ameerah: “What about them? They can fuck off. I’m doing a good thing here.”

Me: “Actually, I agree with you, but to be clear on what we’re talking about so the readers won’t be lost, tell us a little bit about yourself without any spoilers, and, of course about your current mission.”

Ameerah: “Yeah, okay. I’m a dark spirit who possesses soulless humans. I became one after I was murdered in 1925. It was my choice. If I were to have crossed over, I’d have to do what the lightwalkers told me.”

Me: “Lightwalkers?”

Ameerah: “Humans call them angels. They’re a pain-in-the-ass, at least, the one I met is, but according to my dark spirit friend Derek, they all are. Anyway, I’d be damned if I was going to allow another soul dictate to me on what to do. Fuck that. Besides, I wanted to pay back those who betrayed me.”

Me: “What’s it like being a dark spirit?”

Ameerah: “It’s a blast. The bee’s knees as I used to say back in my time. Imagine living whatever life you desire and choosing how you want to look. If you want to experience being a gorgeous blonde with big tits and a hard body, you can. If you want to know what it’s like to be a man, you can. What’s also nifty is I can smoke, drink, eat good food, and have sex without worrying about the consequences, because once I’m done with the host, I leave. You can’t do that shit in the afterlife. In fact, you forget about what it’s like to eat a juicy steak or a chocolate bar. Your desires for those things are gone, along with all the other pleasures one has when being in the human body.”

Me: “When you first possessed a man, what was it like and did you enjoy it?”

Ameerah: “It was the oddest thing ever and horrific.”

Me: “Horrific?”

Ameerah: “Yeah, having a schlong and balls between your legs is one thing, but sometimes the nuts get twisted in the underwear so you have to shift them so they don’t pinch, and if you have one sexy thought, your wiener begins to twitch. A throbbing follows suit. The next thing you know, you have a boner stretching against your trousers. That’s what I mean by horrific.”

Me: *roars with laughter* “I believe your first experience in the male body is in chapter twenty, and it’s hilarious.”

Ameerah: “Glad to amuse you. At the time, it wasn’t funny, although my friends thought so, but now, ninety years later, it is comical.” *laughs*

Me: “Back to the beginning of our conversation. Tell the reader what you’re currently doing to teach cheaters a lesson, and why the immortals want to stop you.”

Ameerah: *snorts* “They can’t stop me. Besides, like I said earlier, I’m doing a good thing. But anyway, to answer your first question, I find men or women who cheat, then I set them up.”

Me: “How?”

Ameerah: “With the help of my partners in crime—Ava, Derek, and sometimes Sylis—for the men we find out what type of gal they like. I then search for a soulless human with those attributes, possess her and then wait for the right opportunity to meet the fella. Eventually, we’ll end up in a hotel room I rented for the night, with a hidden camera to capture his cheating ass, or I’ll have one of my pals covertly take pictures of me kissing or doing sexual things to the scumbag. Then, we’ll give the evidence to his girlfriend or spouse.”

Me: “You do the same with cheating women as well, right?”

Ameerah: “I do, and I’ve discovered that women are just as bad, if not worst when it comes to betraying their mates. All I have to do is possess a hot muscular male, flirt with them, and the bitches are all over me.” *laughs* “Though I don’t care for the male anatomy, I do enjoy fucking the women.”

Me: “Why do the immortals want to stop you from doing this?”

Ameerah: “Because they think I’m screwing up other people’s lives when really I’m doing the person who is being cheated on a favor.”

Me: “Without giving any spoilers out, what made you decide to do this?”

Ameerah: “In 1925, I was a flapper gal, in love with my best friend, having the time of my life. I was truly happy, but then my own family double-crossed me. They took everything from me and had me wrongfully committed to an insane asylum where I endured horrible things. I was murdered in that hellhole. Like you already know, I became a dark spirit to get my revenge on those who betrayed me. I did, and I showed no mercy. In my story, I talk about my time before I became a dark spirit, when I became one, what it was like to be one, and some things that happened during the decades that followed. But to answer your question without ruining it for others, I was betrayed yet again, and now I’ve had enough. I’m taking down the pieces of shit who aren’t faithful to their loved one, at least until I get bored that is.”

Me: “Well, I see no harm in what you’re doing. My last boyfriend cheated on me, and I didn’t find out until much later. It sucked. If my husband ever cheated on me, there would be hell to pay.”

Ameerah: “You know it, girlfriend.”

Me: “I guess I should end this interview before it gets too long. I’m glad you called, though, and we should do this again. In fact, I’d like to meet you in person.”

Ameerah: “That could be arranged, and it was lovely talking with you.”

Me: “Thanks. Oh, and let me know who you’re going to possess before we meet. I realize there are dark spirits walking among us in soulless humans that we’re not even aware of. Hell, my neighbor can be one of them. But I don’t want to be caught off guard, ya know?”

Ameerah: “No problem. I’ll call you beforehand.”

Me: “Cool. It was nice talking to you. Take care and don’t be a stranger.”

Ameerah: “You, too, Becks, and I won’t. We’ll talk again.”

That was the end of our conversation. What a trip, huh? I love, Ameerah. She doesn’t care for a lot of humans, but thankfully she digs me. I like to think we’re good friends.

Anyway, if you want to check out her book. I say hers because yeah, I wrote it, but it’s her story, which is a gritty and poignant one. Here are the links to it:

Cheers! J
