Does A Parallel Universe Exist?

A parallel universe is a separate reality coexisting with one’s own. They branch off from ours. Physicist Brian Greene says recent discoveries in physics and astronomy points to the idea that our universe may be one of many universes populating a grander multiverse. The key to understanding these multiverses comes from string theory.

Now I’m not going to bore you with this whole string theory, scientific, mathematical jargon that will make your head spin. The point is, there's a good possibility other universes exist.

In Dark Spirits, Carrie tells Paige and Nathan about the “old one” telling her there are portals to other dimensions on earth. Scientists believe the earth only possess twelve-dimensional doorways, but Nathan knows they’re wrong. There are more than a dozen. He then decides to go into detail with Carrie about it and this is what he says: “When the electromagnetic process of the earth creates a distortion in those areas and the connecting lines of the electromagnetic force activate, the portal opens, allowing whatever is on the other side in.” There’s a reason why I wrote that into the story, but of course, you’ll have to follow the trilogy and read The Devil’s Third to find out. :)

As most of you know, I grew up in a family that dealt with the paranormal world, and parallel universes was a subject we talked about around the dinner table. I think that’s why I’m so interested in it. I don’t know if they exist; however, I believe there’s a good possibility they do.

Life is a mystery, and if we keep an open mind and believe that anything is possible, one day we might be able to uncover something that can change our world and us forever.

Would that be a good thing or a bad thing? I guess that would depend on the situation. We once thought the earth was flat and now we know it’s not. I think we have an innate need to advance ourselves. With that said, if the earth doesn’t get demolished by outside forces such as a meteorite or we don’t destroy ourselves, I think eventually we’ll discover things that will answer some of our deepest questions. But until then, all we can do is speculate and allow our imagination to run wild on the possibilities that have been hovering in the minds of mankind for thousands, if not millions of years.
