RV Renovation: We’re Making Progress

Sunday was an awesome day to work on renovating our RV (Aesop) because the weather was cool enough for us to get shit done.

-And we’re making progress!

We’re not finished yet, but check out what we’ve done so far inside the RV . . .

Kevin had to install the padding and carpet in the cockpit area.

I think he did a fine job.

-Then we painted. We still need to finish painting the bedroom and part of the bathroom.

The booth cushions will be covered in a mandala pattern, and the couch will have a brown slip cover with bohemian type pillows. The two windows you see will have patchwork curtains and blinds or a shade.

This is a closet and pantry we redone.

I love the vintage look.

I showed you the following in another post, but I'll show you again.

Kevin distressed this bottom cabinet to give it that vintage gypsy theme we wanted. It was one of the first projects we'd done.

Anyway, I wanted to share our progress with you. I know I love seeing before and after pictures because it shows me what a difference paint and new fixtures make to a boring cabinet.

If you want to continue reading about our progress on transitioning from a conventional lifestyle to an alternative one and about my books—which I need to write a post about in the near future—you can subscribe to this blog on the right-hand side here under "follow me".

Have a wonderful week!

RV Renovation: A Huge Bleeping Mess

On step forward, two steps back.

Yesterday wasn’t a good RV renovation day for us.

At first it started out great.

We hired someone to help Kevin with some things on the RV that needed to be done.

Wiring up everything went great.

-Well, Kevin built this box to put our batteries in and just as an added safety precaution, he wanted to screw it to the bottom of the RV compartment it would be housed in. The reason being, if he had to suddenly break or if we ended up in an accident, the box wouldn’t slide.

Good idea, right?

Kevin and the guy (I’ll call him Sam), got busy drilling the holes to the bottom of the wooden box he made, while it was in the RV basement compartment, with the batteries in it.

Kevin went inside to cool off because it was horribly hot and humid out, not to mention the mosquitoes were everywhere.

-So, imagine being miserably hot, your clothes were sticking to you, your energy was quickly getting depleted, AND you were constantly getting bit by mosquitoes.

Yeah, note to self: don’t work on the RV when it’s hot and humid out.

Kevin went back outside and Sam said, “I accidentally drilled a hole into one of the batteries, and I have battery acid all over my pants.”

Kevin thought he was kidding because Sam liked to joke a lot.

It wasn’t a joke.

Seriously.

There was battery acid everywhere!

All the hard work of wiring everything up had to be undone.

They had to take all of the batteries out of the basement compartment and the wooden box Kevin made for it.

Sam was okay, but he felt bad and wouldn’t let us pay him for his labor because the battery he drilled a hole into was going to cost us $130.00 to get a new one.

*sigh*

What a bleeping mess!!!

We all make mistakes, but this RV renovation is kicking our ass.

-But, we’re not giving up.

We realize it’s actually the heat and humidity that’s kicking our ass, not the RV itself.

Plan B:

  • ·       Breathe.
  • ·       Don’t be in a hurry.
  • ·       Don’t work on the RV when it’s miserably hot and humid outside.
  • ·       Focus on one project at a time.
  • ·       Remember, everything is how it should be.
  • ·       Go with the flow.

Today is Sunday. On Sundays we prepare food for the week, do laundry, I set my personal goals, work on my writing, and future plans.

It’s time to regroup and reenergize for the coming week.

Life comes with struggles and frustrations.

That’s how we grow.

I told Kevin what happened was now a memory we could revisit: “Remember, back in the summer of 2018, when Sam accidentally drilled a hole into one of our batteries, and you had to undo all of the work you'd done. Omg, that fucking sucked! But we got through it.” We also have this memory to share with other people, like what I’m doing now with you guys.

-So, everything is how it should be.

It’s all good.

Sleepless Night

Monday night was not a good one for me. I was having problems with my computer to where I could no longer use it, and then I lost my Wifi signal.

*Sigh*

I handled the situation rather well.

I didn’t stress out.

I didn’t fall prey to allowing myself get into a bad mood.

I kept my cool.

I’ll just call my computer guy tomorrow. He’ll fix it for me.

No probs.

Then the next thing happened.

Something Kevin and I both hate.

Hate is a dark and ugly word, you guys.

I don’t use it freely.

We got into an argument.

It wasn’t good.

We’ve been together for over 24 years, and we’re BFF.

We have a blast together.

We adore each other.

Hell, we still hold hands wherever we go.

We write sweet and loving notes to each other every day.

I know that all relationships go through what we went through last night.

I still hate it, though.

We only got two hours of sleep.

Yeah, last night sucked ass.

However, we spent the whole morning talking, and we got it handled.

We’re all good now.

Tired, but good.

So we spent the morning talking, I got my computer fixed (yay!), we took an hour nap, then made a list of everything we want to do once we start renovating Aesop (RV).

It’s exciting.

#futureplansinthemaking

Anyway, I wanted to share a little bit of my personal life with you to let you know we all go through some hard times in relationships—even solid relationships like what Kevin and I have.

I’d like to think we’re now stronger because of it.

We learned some useful information about ourselves, and now we can apply it to our lives in a positive manner.

Because that’s what life is all about, right?

Learning.

Growing.

Creating.

And . . .

When Is The Next Book Coming Out?

I’ve been writing the second book to Legends of Deceit since the end of last summer.

Do I have a title name yet?

Nope.

There will be a title after I tackle the first revision.

When will it be out?

I’m hoping this year.

*fingers and piggies crossed*

I’m almost done with the first draft. I would have been done sooner, but I have other things going on in my life that require my attention as well.

#futureplansinthemaking

Writing a book is a long ass process. I know there are authors who write a book a month or every other month.

I don’t know how they do it.

But I’ve come to the realization every writer is different.

If I were to compare myself to others, I’d be doing myself a disservice.

The only author/writer I should be comparing myself to is myself.

Am I advancing in my craft/art?

Do I love to write?

Am I having fun writing?

So I no longer fret or get all balled up in a knot over how long it takes for me to churn out a novel. The important part is if those three questions are answered with a yes, and that I put out good quality stories for you guys—the readers.

Legends of Deceit is a two book series.

Oh, and guess what?

It’s  .99 cents right now.

I don’t know how long Legends of Deceit is going to stay on sale, but right now it’s $3.00 off the regular price.

Here’s where you can get it for .99 centsà

Also, I was interviewed to be in a paranormal e-magazine called
Alternative Perceptions. Once it’s published, I’ll letcha know.

Until next time.

What Is My Crazy Future Plan?

So how do you like my new revamp blog?

I’m digging it and will probably play around with it later.

Why would I change my blog?

I’m moving into a totally different direction in my life that’ll eventually have to do with writing, travel, and adventure.

Eventually.

This is a year or so plan in the making.

What’s the plan?

The hubster and I bought this RV A.K.A. Aesop, last September.

Once the weather warms up, we’re going to renovate it and make it our own.

Here’s what it looks like inside right now.

It’s the total Vegas look.

Gag.

We’re going to rip up that nasty carpet, put down like a barn wood flooring, get rid of the blue velvet and brass and paint the cabinets among other things.

We’re going to document the whole renovation, so I’ll share it with you.

What’s the plan?

The hubster and I are going to travel the U.S. in our RV and be digital nomads. We’ll be creating a documentary about our adventures/travel, and I’ll continue to write as well as put other social media content out.

I just opened an Etsy store called: DARETOLIVESHOP. It’s another way to hopefully bring in some extra cash to help fund our documentary. Right now, there are cool inspirational t-shirts to buy. I’m still working on putting other products in my shop, and I’m having fun doing it. Here’s the link if you want to check it outà https://www.etsy.com/shop/DARETOLIVESHOP?ref=search_shop_redirect

It’s also on one of the tabs above.

Anyway, that’s my crazy plan—travel the US as a digital nomad in my RV and living off grid—and I'm so happy and excited about it.

I’ll be doing an update on my current writing in progress soon.

Cheers!

Peace with Insecurities

Everyone has insecurities. I don’t care if you’re the queen of England or a famous movie star. Hell, Marilyn Monroe was uber-famous and considered the sexist woman alive. Even she had insecurities. She had a lot. Anyway, I have insecurities about my looks.

Why?

Because when I was growing up I had a huge overbite, was made fun of, got into fights over it and was told my older sister was prettier than me, but I was pretty on the—finger quotes—inside. I remember in seventh grade a friend of mine mentioned to me my sister was pretty, then she looked at me with disgust and asked, “What happened to you?” Decades later, those words that Heather (That’s her name. I even remember her last name.) said to me are still with me. They’re branded into my psyche for life. When I was fourteen I got braces and wore those suckers for almost five years. I endured a lot of pain but never once did I complain. The bargain I had with my mother was she’d get me braces if I promised never to complain about them. I promised, and I never once complained or whined. All the pain, hassle, and years of wearing them was worth it. Trust me. Thirty years later . . . I’m still struggling with the insecurities I have regarding how I look. It’s an ongoing battle I need to overcome.

Why overcome it? You’re almost middle-age?

Wait.

What?

What’s considered middle-age?

I’m not middle-age.

*Googles what age is considered middle-age*

45-65 is considered middle-age.

Hah! I’m still too young to be in that group.

So why should I even bother attempting to overcome my insecurity regarding my looks?

One of my main goals in this life is to conquer my insecurities before I die. Also, my future plans (I have a 2-year plan) will require me to be in front of a camera.

Yikes!

If everything works out, I have an exciting, adventurous future planned out for myself and my better half. So in order to conquer my insecurity about my looks, I figure baby steps.

I need to make peace with it.

I took a couple pictures of myself (I hardly ever post selfies) and posted them to Facebook. I received an amazing response that truly surprised me—lots of likes, love, and wonderful comments.

You guys, I need to put myself out there, regardless of how insecure I am about my looks.

Again, I need to make peace with it.

I’m tired of just existing.

I want to live.

This is the first step toward my future plans.

If you stick with me, eventually you'll find out what it is. In the meantime, I'll work on conquering this insecurity and finish writing the second book to my Legends of Deceit 2-book series.

Peace.

Tarot Cards Anyone?

I was going through my stuff the other day and look what I found.

I also have The Rider Tarot deck my BFF bought me for Christmas when we were teens, and I have an Angel deck. But I love this one the best. The pictures are awesome.

Anyway, I used to do tarot card readings many moons ago. I decided to do a reading on myself last night. Here are the cards I pulled from the deck.

I have to tell you guys . . . this reading was totally accurate. I could go through each card with you and pick apart the reading, but then this would be a long ass post. So I’ll tell you what the last card says since it ties everything together. Here’s the last card.

Adventure, Independence, Travel.

Travel. A long path ahead. This card speaks to the need to perfect skills in working and living, but it acknowledges in having a sound grounding in the basics.

Optimistic, innocent, and willing to learn. This card also shows that intuition serves us well—but only if we pay attention to it.

This card does not necessarily refer exclusively to the beginnings; it can also signify a progression along a path, moving into the unknown from the known, a new phase in an ongoing process.

There needs to be a balance between the intuitive and the rational as one approaches the unknown.

Consider where you are going. What are your long-term goals? What are you doing that is helping you move toward them?

This reading was spot on with what’s been recently going on with my life and my future plans. I have a two-year plan that will involve: Adventure, Independence, and Travel. So if everything flows together, in two years or less, those three things will be my life.

Stay tuned for more information on my plan or you can subscribe to my newsletter to get the news quicker as well as opportunities to win cool stuff and get top secret information regarding my books.

Cheers!
